Question about Hush Puppies Clothing Accessories

1 Answer

I purchased a pair of HushPuppies men's leather walking shoes 6 months ago. The pair are a N15654 DelMar, size 7.5 (British size). The synthetic rubber sole on the Right foot cracked severely right under the ball of the foot. Cobblers here tell me that it cannot be repaired, that that particular type of sole has a sort of built in obsolescence, which I find hard to believe as the shoes have just been worn for 6 months! Can you help with this? Will Hush Puppies replace the shoes? (The local merchant I purchased them from is unable to do so.) How can this problem be fixed? Your help is needed. Thanks.

I have found that a simple phone call can do wonders! Companies such as Hush Puppies has built a reputation which I am sure they want to uphold, so customer service and satisfaction is important to them. Their phone number is 1-866-699-7365 (M-F, 9:00 - 7:00). Here is a link to their site as well:

I highly suggest a phone call rather than an email. Simply explain what happened (and it wouldn't hurt to say something like "I am a big fan of Hush Puppies and have never had this problem before.") and offer a solution (i.e., you will pay to ship the shoes back if they will send you a replacement pair or fix yours). Companies are more receptive if you already have a solution in mind rather than just calling to complain and vent. And no matter how rude the person on the other end of the phone is, maintain your composure and be abrupt but polite. If the person is not willing to help you (even if they say they are sorry but there is just nothing they can do), ask to speak to the manager/supervisor. ALWAYS get the name (first and last) of the person you are speaking with and make a note of it. If the manager/supervisor does not assist you to your satisfaction then keep moving up the chain.

If after all your efforts they still say "no," then repeat their names and let them know that you are going to report them to the Better Business Bureau (or whatever version you have in your country). Don't be surprised if they change their tune!

Good luck and "walk on!"

Happy shopping!

Salomon 2005 kiana fitting with burton lexa binding- size advice

A huge proportion of footwear of all sorts are made using sizes taken from the standard Italian last. It has become a sort of tradition because Italian shoes have been world reknown for elegance - as a nation the Italians have notoriously narrow feet. People who don't have "Italian" feet usually need to buy shoes based on width fit in order to achieve comfort and in doing so will often end up buying shoes that are up to three sizes too long..

Add into this unsatisfactory situation the fact that not all manufacturers cut on the generous side, as with clothes, and the further problem when shoes are produced in metric and then converted into British or American sizes that rarely coincide, providing low cost manufacturers a further opportunity for meanness and rendering the more expensive footwear generally superior as being much closer to the size printed on the shoes or boots. Buying shoes and boots these days with preconceived notions about what size you need is a pathway to unnecessary expense and discomfort and much disappointment.

Only expensive children's shoes, exclusive brands, a very few specialist and bespoke shoes are available in a variety of width fittings for each size, leather shoes do have the benefit of "bedding in" but shoes and boots made of synthetic materials rarely do and if they do it is a slow process.
People who must buy mailorder often order two, three or more pairs at once in order to make comparisons.

If you are not in a position to do that I suggest you either have your feet measured for width and length or obtain the instructions to measure them yourself and then provide the measurements to the shoe or boot supplier or manufacturer and request they supply boots to fit the width of your obviously non-Italian feet.

I'm planning on buy hicking boots. What should I know when buying hicking shoes?

Purchasing the right hiking boots for your feet and for your outdoor activity will make your trip much more enjoyable.
First, decide why you need boots. Camping with a backpack, hiking with a light bag and traveling internationally all call for different kinds of shoes.
Second, Put on a pair of the socks in which you intend to hike.
Go to a shoe store, the shoe department of a store that sells recreational equipment, or best of all, a specialized outdoor retailer.Find the lightest boots suitable for the kind of walking you plan to do. Leather is best for all purposes. Boots with inflexible soles are best for long walks with heavy bags. Lighter boots or heavy walking shoes are better for most other applications.
Try on the boots, tie them as you are likely to on the trail, and knock at the floor with your toe. If your foot slips appreciably, you are likely to get blisters. Ask for a smaller size, or try a different model.

How to select a good walking shoes? Coul dyou recommend me on a good pair?

People are always asking for shoe recommendations. I don't like to make specific shoe recommendations because everyone's foot is different and people have different walking styles. But there are a few basics for selecting walking shoes: 1.Look for a low, supportive heel that rounds (or bevels) in. A thick heel or one that flairs out will cause your foot to slap down rather than roll. 2. A walker's foot hits heel first and then rolls gradually from heel-to-toe. So, you will need a flexible sole and more bend in the toe than a runner. 3.Next, look for a shoe that is light weight and breathable. The last thing you want is the clunky heavy leather walking shoe.
4. The most important thing of course is a shoe that fits properly. Be sure your foot has enough room in the toe box. There should be a thumbnails width (or about a half inch) between your toes and the end of the shoe.5. Go shoe shopping at the end of the day or after your walk when your feet may be slightly swollen. 6. Do not shop when you are in a hurry. 7.Wear your shoes in the house for a few days to try them out.
