Action replay when i plug in my ds and load code manager it says waiting for ds even though it is plugged in

When I load up my DS with the Action Replay in, normally it starts the AR instantly, now the DS just boots up as if i didn't have the AR in....Tried to update software on AR but my Windows Vista desktop cant find drivers. Went to go use the old XP laptop but right above the drive it says, "Use only standard (12cm) CD or DVD disks. Any other size or shape disk cannot be removed from this slot and may damage system." So now i'm scared out of my wits to try and use it....Tried burning the disk on the desktop and the laptop thinks there is only 1 file and that its an audio file....any ideas?

I have a problem in the same vein. My computer WILL NOT accept the USB link, and the drivers Datel provide hold no information, according to the computer. Is there any solution to this outside of sending the product back?

  • Anonymous Oct 25, 2008

thanks for trying, but the problem is that the computer WONT recognize the nds link. i have the same problem.....

and also, i cant A+B+S+S it because your computer needs to recognize the NDS linkt to do that.

whenever i plug it in it says wait for ds but it doesnt do anything...

  • Anonymous Nov 14, 2008

even when my ds and action replay are both connected it sits there and says waiting for ds and if i try to edit my codelist, after a bit, i get a runtime error message that closes the problem

  • Anonymous Nov 16, 2008

What a waste of time! I've updated the driver and this AR/DS still doesn't connect! Why does it have to be so hard? I need the number for Datel tech support. I'd like to call them Monday to see if they have decided to fix this problem or if they just plan to keep taking children/parents' money.

Ok, if you're going to post a solution, please read the problem. The both solutions are incorrect.

  • Anonymous Apr 23, 2009

Mine is all good as far as setup. Updated for Vista 32 bit, the driver is where it should be, I did all of the resets, etc and yadaa yadaa. Frustrating to say the least. I tried your solution as well, but I had no "!" and all good. Still nothing. I am upset because this is only the third time I used the AR!!!

IF you are running Vista 64, the issue is the driver on the disk is incompatible, thus the pc will never see the ds. However, I have found a workaround. First make sure the DS is on and plugged in and the Action replay Manager is launched. On the DS click on the mouse so it should read updating software. Then, go into device Manager via the Control Panel, there you will see NDS and an exclamation mark. Right click and choose to update the driver or properties. Then choose Browse My computer for driver software... then let me pick from a list... then fo the manufacturer shoose: Standard USB Host Controller and for the Model choose Unknown. It will pick it up instantlly. Voila.. Good Luck! and what a pain!! V

... What if there is no "Standard USB Host Controller" as a driver, and I can't pick an Unknown model? D:

By the way... I'm on a Windows 7.

I have just found the solution to the problem (2 minutes later XD)
Quote CodeJunkies' Support site
Try resetting the Action Replay by following these steps:

  1. Insert the Action Replay into the DS
  2. While the Action Replay software is loading, press and hold all the following buttons: A + B + Start + Select.
  3. Release all of the buttons once the Action Replay is at the main menu.
The first screen should persist for much longer than normal, and when the Action Replay DS main menu loads, your hardware should be reset.
Once the reset has been performed, try connecting the USB cable to your PC, opening up the code manager software and transferring data again.

It won't return all of your games back, but it will allow you to start on a clean slate again.

  • Anonymous Aug 22, 2008

Sorry I had posted this in the wrong problem >.<

  • Anonymous Aug 22, 2008

    Here is the real solution:

-First, make sure your DS Action Replay install disc is inserted in your CD drive

-Next, turn on your Code Manager

-Next, connect your DS to your Computer through the USB ports, MAKE SURE YOUR DS IS ON TOO.

-Your computer should prompt you that it has a new device connected. It SHOULD ask you to install the NDS Link.

-If it asks you to install a USB port, say yes anyways, and install with the recommended settings (not the manual settings)

-Your computer will then automatically find the NDS Link driver on your DS Action Replay disc, install and then allow your DS to connect with your computer.

Windows 7: You need to open control panel, view devices, then rightclick on the "unknown device" (which shoud be your ds) , properties and then start browsing all "properties" buttons until you find a window that has an "update driver"button. You click on it, and browse to find the driver in the cd you got with the AR. Once you do thatm, the computer will recognize your ds.

I tried the first solution but my computer still didn't recognize my ds, and now all the games are gone.

I tried re-adding a game but the screen just had green and red stripes all over it and froze up.

This is the second Action Replay that has been messed up....There goes $40 of my money...Faaabulous...

Action replay loads up dual white screens

your version has everything to do with it. i recently found this out. all the dsi versions past 1.4 u doesn't allow the action replay to work basically. either we wait for a action replay update or we find a wait to get the dsi's version to 1.3 something. my fiancee's dsi was at 1.2 u and the action replay worked just fine. i had him update it to the newest version which is 1.4.5 u and it doesn't allow the action replay to work. i know i didn't really help but for the longest time i thought my action replay was broken and then i just found out that it's the dsi instead. sorry mate

My action replay ds leaves the start screen but then just goes white even before it reaches the main menu.i tried blowing on it it and it still does the same thing

Hello dijanilaplac,

There can be many problems with your Action Replay DS. Try taking the Action Replay out of your Nintendo DS Lite Console, and look at the part those goes into the DS. Make sure nothing is bent, or missing. If something is, it might mean you may have to have it repaired, or replaced. Also keep in mind that sometimes Action Replays can be sensetive, so don't move it around while playing, or it may cause your DS to freeze up.

If you just bought this Action Replay recently, it should have been supplied with a CD to insert into your computer. You should install Action Replay onto your computer. When you have been brought to the main Action Replay Code Manager, find your USB and Action Replay plug in. Plug the small end into the top of the Action Replay cartridge, and the USB into the computer. Now a New Hardware wizard should have popped up on your computer.

When prompt, select, "Install from specific location.", then click next. Then select Search from CD-ROM. Sometimes it may sound different, just select the one that says something about searching from a CD-ROM. After this has completed, reset your Action Replay.

If the problem persists, feel free to contact me, for questions, or replies.

I wiped all my games! HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i had the same prob
Your Action Replay DS hardware may require resetting if you are experiencing any of the following problems:
* Code Manager PC software is reporting that Action Replay DS does not contain enough free space when it actually contains no codes.
* Code Manager PC software is reporting the console`s battery is low when it’s actually fully charged.
* Multicoloured bars are shown on the screen after you confirm the entry of a game ID when trying to manually enter codes. * You can use the Code Manager PC software without any problems until the Action Replay DS is connected via USB set to the update mode on the console, at which point Windows shows a run time error.
If you are experiencing any of these problems, please follow the steps below to reset the Action Replay DS hardware. Please beware that resetting the Action Replay DS hardware will not restore a default codelist, and any codes which are stored on the Action Replay DS will be erased.
  1. With your console powered off insert the Action Replay DS
  2. Hold down buttons A+B
  3. Turn your console on
  4. With A+B still held down, as soon as you see the Action Replay DS license screen press and hold down buttons START+SELECT so that you now have 4 buttons held down
  5. Hold all 4 buttons down for around 10 seconds until the Action Replay DS loads to it`s home screen
  6. If Action Replay DS doesn’t hold on the license screen for around 10 seconds when you do this, you may need to turn off and try again

Code manager connection

CD is in drive: Plug in the DS and turn it on (going to the update screen on the DS), this -might- prompt you about a new software that has been plugged in and ask you to install the drivers for the "NDSLink" With the CD in the drive, it will find the drivers for the NDSLink

Wire Wiped Clean: It isn't the wire that needs cleaning but it's the pins, if the Pins need cleaning use an alcohol solution (Damp, not soaking). Otherwise pinch the wire and run your fingers across it to straighten the wires within the cord without pulling (pull too hard and you'll rip the wires) Though do note that exposed wires are not a good thing. If you received your cord with exposed wires, return the Action Replay and its accessories promptly and get a new one.

DS is Open: Again, your DS needs to be on in order for the computer to recognize that it's plugged in. It's the Action Replay that the Code Manager on the computer talks to, not the DS. The Action Replay needs an electrical current going through it to tell the computer that it's turned on. DS on = Action Replay on.

Other possibilities that are not explained: Did you happen to drop the Action Replay? Damage from falls is completely possible and ruins the state of the Action Replay, causing it to come lose easily or not work properly. I have needed to replace my Action Replay due to these accidents before.

Where was this Action Replay bought? If you bought it from a exchange store, you might have gotten a DS that was damaged before you got it (It happens), so if it is not too late, return it, and get a new one (Depending on the price difference between new and used in your area, for me it was a $5 difference)
