The right CD deck of the Gemini CDMP 6000 that I very recently bought is no longer working. It will load/eject CD's but will not read/play them (any kind), displaying only a 'starting..' message. The unit worked perfectly well out of the box, but began having this problem after 1-2 days. Is this a common problem for this product? Please advise on solution options. Thank you.

Hi mreuten44,

If the unit won't play or read disc, it is often caused by the lens. The easiest way to correct this problem is as simple as the lens may need cleaning. Here are several troubleshooting steps that you can take:

1. Remove excess dust from the CD player. Make sure to dust in between buttons, knobs, power cord(s) and audio-out ports. Note: use a dry duster, as moisture will harm your CD player further.

2. Use a disk-based lens cleaner to remove ground in dust or dirt from the CD player's lens. These lens cleaners look like a regular CDs, but have specially-made bushes on the reverse side that gently remove excess dirt from the CD-reading lens. Simply put the CD in your player, and press the "Play" button to clean the lens. Do not run the cleaner more than once, as excess brushing can cause scratches on the lens.

3. Polish the lens. Use a glass or eyeglass cleaning solution and a lint-free cloth to gently polish the reading lens. Clean it by using a low amount of pressure and softly polishing the lens and its surrounding area using soft, circular motions. Do this for about a minute or two and then allow the player to sit for a few minutes before trying to play a CD.

4. Make sure the slider that the lens is attached to is all the way back to the platter.

5. Check the platter, it may have slipped down to close to the lens and it wont focus.

6. If the above steps did not work, the motor drive circuit is defective. At this point you need a help of a repairman to check the unit.

Hope it helps.

My gemini cdmp 6000 cue button is stuck it will not come out of cue. i need to hold cue button down in order for it to play

You need to take it to the shop and get the switch replaced. It shouldn't cost more than an hour's labor/bench charge and the cost of the switch. Depending on your market probably $75-100.

My cdmp-6000 always hangs and resets.... what causes it? and what maybe the possible solution?

I can give you some questions to verify possible problems:

1. Is the mixer, and ALL connected equipment powered from the SAME receptacle? If not, ground bounce can be causing damaging transients. This OFTEN requires running power back from where amps are to the mixer using an extension cord.

2. Are ALL audio interconnectsusing balanced lines where possible?

3. Is humidity 40% or greater? If not, possible static discharges from rugs, clothes, etc. may be causing transients that reset the unit.

4. Are stage lighting equipment run from a separate source to avoid transients from dimmers and switching?

5. Is the power all have three wire cords and the building have grounded receptacles?

If your system satisfies all these the next step I would suggest is a high quality power conditioner.

You MAY have contamination in the slider. You could try putting a little CRC226 into the slot and work the control. Use ONLY this product CRC226 available at Home Depot in the electrical dept/

Hi. How do I fix a CD deck that wont open if I press eject? The deck refused to open with a CD inside. The deck wont play the CD if I press play and wont eject if I press eject. please help. Thanx TC

To retrieve the CD safely, the safest way is to open the unit. A common problem is that a tiny belt from a motor that drives the eject deteriorates and slips so there isn't sufficient drive to move the mechanism. The unit is probably in a mode expecting to eject and has commanded the motor but it doesn't complete... Do as I say and open the unit to do the retrieval. Then get unit serviced.

GEMINI CDMP 6000 5 mounth old 10 times used ( home used ) . Left unit play correct audio CD but right unit have problem with play some tracks from the same audio CD. In Macedonija ( EUROPA ) we dont have...

A call to Gemini is in order here. Given your location, try asking if they will send you a replacement drive. It is common for the drives to contain special uncoding that will prevent a generic replacement drive from working properly. Since this unit is so new, it is likely that the company will replace the drive for you.
