JVC Everio GZ-MG130 Camcorder Logo
Posted on Jun 21, 2011

GZ-MS 130AU Camera. There seems to be a loose wire in the door. When I open it, the camera turns on, but the screen goes black, if it is open just an inch, I can film, any more than that, and the screen is black. Is this something I can fix myself? I don't want to undo those tiny screws if that isn't the problem area. Thanks!

The most likely cause for this is a damaged or defective flexible ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the camera body and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

You can also open the LCD, flip it all the way around, and close it again with the LCD on the outside. Ours does the same thing, but will work with the LCD closed and operating so you can see the screen on the outside.

Do you have the cable for the camera? If so, simply plug it into your computer. Open moviemaker, and select the find camera option.

My JVC everio GZ-MS120SAA is broken. When i open the screen the camera does not turn on but when its half open it works can u please help me ???? thank you

Problem is with the ribbon cable interconnect between camera and screen. Available as spare, but very tricky to replace. Probably a camera shop is your best bet.

Screen goes black when opened fully, reappears when closing it

The problem you seem to have is the thin wires that carry the picture to the LCD screen may be broken or making and breaking, you certainly wont be able to repair yourself, get it to a good camera shop for first aid.

Canon Powershot SI screen goes black after taking a photo

That sounds like a sticky lens shutter. They usually have to be replaced, as they usually will need parts. When the camera is working look inside the lens and take a picture(with flash turned off). You should see a black shutter door clicking shut in the lens. When the camera acts up, look inside the lens again. If the door is staying shut full time, that is your problem.

GZ-MG330 with mac OSX 10.4.10

I had the same problem with the Everio MG330 and I have fixed this problem!!
iMovie needs to be updated to v7.1.1 or it will NOT import from the Everio MG330 HDD video camera.  iMovie '08 is not enough, it needs to be upgraded to v7.1.1

I searched long and hard and finally found this.  IT WORKS NOW!!
1. Update to iMovie 7.1.1 2. Close iMovie 3. Plug in camera using USB cable (iMovie is OFF) 4. Open camera viewer to turn on camera 5. Choose top option (I think it is watch on PC or download to PC or something like that) 6. Open iMovie and follow the pop up instructions for importing.
Please go back to all of the other places you have looked to fix this problem and post this.  Let's help each other.
