Are you able to see the images in the camera if yes then the photos are in the memory card :

OnCamera LCD screen displays No Memory Card, Memory Card Error,Unrecognized File Format, Incompatible JPEG, or "?" marks for imageswhen card is inserted in the camera or while attempting to Playbackimages. Click here for information on Corrupt images on memory card cause a blank event window
Ifthe camera displays Memory card error, No Memory Card, or takes anabnormally long time to write an image to the memory card, when amemory card is inserted or any of the above error messages, make surethat the card is inserted properly. If this is the case, you may wishto Format the memory card in the camera using the Setup Menu option[Format] as shown below. Please be aware that formatting the memorycard will remove any images currently stored on the card along with anyother data. This can also be caused when images shot with anothercamera are stored on the memory card.
If afterformatting the card in the camera the error persists, try anothermemory card. If this occurs with only the one card it is likely thatthe memory card is defective, if the error persists over more than onecard the camera may require service. If the card appears to bedefective you may wish to contact the memory card manufacturer.

Once you plug your usb from your camera to your compaq pc, DO NOT unplug it right away unless you have click the lower right hand corner of the pc that says "safely remove hardware"

if the two components did not communicate well, you can re-try but if you would remove the usb, click first the "safely remove hardware" icon.

then install first the cd of the camera to the pc before downloading pictures.

you have to do all of those things before it would work...

i hope i was able to fix ur problem...

tnx 4 using fixya,
please let me lnow what happened...

Please use a memory card reader adn then recover the photos from that.

then use a format option to format the card

  • Anonymous Aug 21, 2008

also be sure of formating the card every time you use it fresh in the camera.

    dont forget

  • Anonymous Aug 21, 2008

    good question.

memory card reader is a small device used to read memory cards. it is very cheap and handy device that is used by almost every one who has a memory card. you can get it from any electronics shop.

even canon has its own card readers. you can go for branded ones like canon or else go for any local mode one. both will be good.

but my suggestion would be.. go for branded.

    and for formating.

you must find that option in the menu of your camera.

Window Vista not recognizing my Canon Power Shot A540 to download

I recommend getting a USB card reader for your memory card.

You should make sure that the camera is on for the transfer. If that doesn't work, try another USB input.

I have recently shot some pictures with my canon 580 EX flash. pictures seemed to be a bit underexposed. My camera is a 50D pictures shot at ISO 200. The lens was a canon 17-40 F4 L. Is is possible that...

It all depends on the environment you're shooting in. When shooting a wedding reception for instance inside in the evening I will generally use ISO 800 and I quite often use FE Lock which is very handy. FE Lock will pre-flash the speedlite and meter the result based on the center focus point in your viewfinder (it doesn't matter if you have set another focus point it will always meter to the center one so make sure that is over your subject when you use it). To use FE Lock press the button near your thumb that has the * symbol with the center focus point over the subject. You can then re-frame the shot if required and take the picture. The camera will take the picture based on that flash setting and you should find that the shot is better exposed.

Blurry picture on Canon A80

I don't know what you told that technician, but try this. Download some of your pictures and videos to your computer. If the downloaded pictures look fine on your computer, then the technician was right, and it's probably just a loose LCD ribbon cable connection.

BUT if the downloaded pictures also look blurry with stripes, then it's probably a faulty CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. BUT MAKE SURE you tell the technician this time that it is showing up on your DOWNLOADED pictures. I recommend trying again, and hope for a more knowledgeable tech on the line this time. Please check the following two links for more info:
