I have a 93 pathfinder SE 4X4 automatic transmission that had full power, new starter and battery. Sometimes it will start and sometimes not. By passed starter relay by adding push button start and it started 6-8 times then nothing. I finally figured out that it was the neutral safety or inhibitor switch on the 4 wheel drive shifter. Just an idea..good luck

SOURCE: 1991 Nissan 240SX starter will not turn!

If you've applied 12VDC to the solenoid and it does nothing, not even click, then the solenoid is toast!

SOURCE: When I turn the key in the ignition nothing

Do you have power inside the car. If so then the starter is bad. If you have a remote starter solenoid on the fire wall or fender change that first. You may also want to check all the wires on the starter and make sure they didn't come loose.

When I turn on the key to start my 1986 toyota truck, it does nothing as if it has no battery. I put new battery. LIghts work, horn works but gauges don't work and it does nothing when I trun th

You need a wiring diagram to start your testing

Guessing won't get it,waste of time

It is old enough to be a fusible link corroded

Some things work some don't,starting circuit
included if not a bad starter & separate problem

You can solve almost looking at a wiring diagram
as you know what deosn't work

My 2008 silverado won't start battery is charged

No, it isn't an ignition issue.

Check power to the starter motor solenoid.
If this is getting power when cranking, then the issue is with the starter motor solenoid or starter motor. Replace.

My saturn ion 2005, 2.2l engine will not turn over, is it the ignition switch?

That sounds like battery--wiring-or starter. Check the battery voltage. It should be 12.6. volts with engine off. Clean the battery terminals.

My 1997 GMC Jimmy will not start, when I turn the key nothing happins. I put new battery in it and my power locks worked and windows, lights, then I turn the key and nothing everything dies???????

Did this happen after you put the new battery in?
I have run into where people just put a new Pep Boys or Kragen or whomever battery in and had issues afterwards. Soemtimes the terminals don't tighten. The bolt will be as tight as you can get it without stripping and the terminal can still be moved. The battery terminal hole may be too shallow not alloing the bolt to go deep enough.
Things will work until you try to start, The starter will draw a lot of juice and cause the loose terminal to arc and lose connection.

Now if this was happening before you replaced the battery then it may be the starter orits circuit. Hook a test light to the starters small "S" terminal and try to start. If the ight comes on its a bad starter. If no light then you need to trace that back. Manual transmission should have a safety switch on the clutch pedal. Automatic will have a neutral safety switch on the transmission (right side where the gear selector hooks to).

But that sudden loss of power makes me thing there is a loose connection arcing. If not at the battery then check the under hood fuse and relay panel.

1996 buick won't start

Try having someone turn the key to the start position while at the same time someone else taps on the starter with a hammer. If starter begins to crank the engine or makes weird noises or begins to smoke then you need a starter. If nothing happens, then using a test light or a volt meter check for power at the "S" terminal of the starter solinoid when the key is turned to the start position. The "S" terminal is the small terminal to the right of the terminal where the battery cable goes when viewed with the battery cable terminal at the 12 Oclock position. (usually a purple wire). Hope this helps.
