DRIVERS I want to install new operating System for my Compaq Presario C762NR Notebook PC which before had window Vista. So I need to get Drivers for this laptop so that I can install window XP

is this an Ethernet cable (cat5/6-RJ45) ? to your ROUTER?
or wifi to your home router, what?

if Ethernet cable works and wifi not then we know is wifi only.
why not use a cable, buy one for $3 and keep it handy.

btw , the cables allows getting long winded windows updates 100x faster. or if installing an new or updated or restore OS even faster.


we have no idea at all what OS is there.
nor if it was upgraded to a higher version without HP support.
its and HP computer now, Compaq is gone.


if you look in DEVICE MANAGER.
see all net work chips there, ?
are all of them happy, no red, no yellow marks or missing ?
if yes, then your DRIVERS are wrong, or corrupted.
that is step one,
not get connected. get connected can not fix bad drivers.
so DM is first.
but first first is what , DRIVERS matching your unstated OS.

Yes when you get a new Operating System you need new drivers for that operating system. Your Windows XP 2 drivers will no longer be valid once you switch to Windows 7 for your Compaq Presario c783tu. hi ashok, it's a major problem with the Compaq laptops...
as they donot provide display & audio drivers with the system!
you should search the drivers on google search using ur Model no. !

If you have installed Windows Vista for the first time, you need to download the drivers for the same. Go to www.hp.com and click drivers and downloads. Select the computer model and operating system and download the sound driver.

HP Compaq Presario 700 series was originally designed for XP and Vista, therefore you can install XP on it.

After installing Windows XP, you will need to install all drivers.

There are several versions of the Presario C700. Pls try here and select one appropriate ti what you have. Thereafter, clicking on the exact model number would open a new page with drivers for several Operating System, pls select Windows XP. If there are no specific drivers, download and install the HP Software Update.
