Should the JVC KD-G351 be working like this:
All radiostations and settings are stored and they remain even if I turn off the car.
The radio is working well when the car is running, (also CD and USB or MP3), or when the ignition key is on power.
When power is off (no key in ignition), the stereo only accepts the eject or disp buttons, in other words, can't get any music out of the set unless power is on in the car.
Every other set I have installed works like this:
When turning off the car and removing the key, the stereo is also turned off, but pressing the "ON" button starts up the stereo again, even if the key isn't in.

Re: JVC KD-G351 question
It sounds like your stereo is working properly. I've never seen a
car stereo that was wired properly that you could turn on and listen to
while the car was off with the key removed from the ignition
switch. You would have to move the ignition switch to the
accessory position in order to get the stereo to work. Hope this
helps. Good luck. Mike D.

First I'd check all of the wiring and connections. Make sure that there's no bare wires, no cut or frayed insulation and no wires contacting metal on the vehicle or other wires.
If everything is connected properly and there's no shorts, press the reset button on the panel holder using a ball-point pen after detaching the control panel. (The clock setting and preset stations stored in memory will be .)
If that does not work, there's most likely an internal fault and the receiver needs service.
Have you tried removing the negative terminal from your car battery and giving it a few minutes. Hook the terminal back up and try your cd player again? That should be the same as resetting your cd player settings.
Push the Sel button and hold for 3 seconds (usually displays Demo or Demo Off). Push the Station up and down button til it reads Clock H or Clock M. Turn the volume button to adjust time. Push the Sel button to quit.
