JVC KD-G351 question

Should the JVC KD-G351 be working like this:
All radiostations and settings are stored and they remain even if I turn off the car.
The radio is working well when the car is running, (also CD and USB or MP3), or when the ignition key is on power.
When power is off (no key in ignition), the stereo only accepts the eject or disp buttons, in other words, can't get any music out of the set unless power is on in the car.
Every other set I have installed works like this:
When turning off the car and removing the key, the stereo is also turned off, but pressing the "ON" button starts up the stereo again, even if the key isn't in.

Oohh...! You haven't? I checked on both my other cars, one with an LG stereo, and the other one with a set that was in the car from the beginning, and they both work like that. But I also asked my collegues how it works in their cars, and it works exactly as in my car, except for one Toyota owner that said he has to turn the key into the first position before he can turn on his stereo, but then again he hadn't tested to just push the "ON" button on the stereo while the key was not in the ignition.
I'll have to check out a little bit more about this, someone suggested a fuse could have gone, but it sounds strange as I would think it couldn't work at all then...
But thank you for your advice, and of course other could enlighten me in this question also if they have tested to push the on button without having the ignition key in power position.

It sounds like your stereo is working properly. I've never seen a car stereo that was wired properly that you could turn on and listen to while the car was off with the key removed from the ignition switch. You would have to move the ignition switch to the accessory position in order to get the stereo to work. Hope this helps. Good luck. Mike D.

Turns on then off right away

Hello headbanger42,

First I'd check all of the wiring and connections. Make sure that there's no bare wires, no cut or frayed insulation and no wires contacting metal on the vehicle or other wires.

If everything is connected properly and there's no shorts, press the reset button on the panel holder using a ball-point pen after detaching the control panel. (The clock setting and preset stations stored in memory will be .)

If that does not work, there's most likely an internal fault and the receiver needs service.

Hope this helps.

Not reading MP3 cds

Have you tried removing the negative terminal from your car battery and giving it a few minutes. Hook the terminal back up and try your cd player again? That should be the same as resetting your cd player settings.

http://instrukcje.elektroda.net/caud/jvc/KD-G501.pdf

Sounds like you have a problem with the mp3 format being used.
