Make sure that you are not using the adapter in with the ethernet port connected. If you do this, it will by pass the wireless adapter completely. otherwise, it could be that your router is either the wrong kind. Remember it only works with A,B, and G routers, not N. Or that your routers broadcast signal is set to too high a frequency. it should be channel 5,6,10, or 11 anything higher or lower will not work.

i am reading the instructions but nothing is coming on
I double checked all the settings you mentioned, the stupid thing still doesn't work. I have G enabled for channel 6 with no ethernet cable connected. It still does not recognize the adapter. BTW, the adapter is in the solid red light which is standby. Any other suggestions?
