I have a FinePix A900 camera with a 1 GB SD card. I connected a cable in the A/V Out to watch the photos on a TV set. At this moment something went wrong. The camera LCD becomes black and no picture was sent to TV. So I disconnected the cable and turned the camera off and back on. The LCD was OK, but it showed a message of reading error when I tried to watch one of the pictures taken and present in the SD card. As early I extracted all the photos to computer, I tried to put back the problematic picture from the computer to the SD card, just that picture. Again I got a reading message error. Well, I decided to format the SD card and repeat the upload from PC to camera. No way. So I changed the SD card for a new one and repeated the process. This moment I succeed, but despite the photo reappeared at the camera LCD display its thumbnail not, just a gray rectangle with a centered interrogation mark on it. I guess I lose the thumbnail due (perhaps) sort of mess in the Exif data. I tried several recovery programs (including Exifer) with no success. My question is: Is there some specific Fuji FinePix A900 software to recover JPEG photos? Or is there some software to rebuild the Fuji FinePix A900 Exit metadata for JPEG that includes regenerating the thumbnail picture? Consider that the photo is in good conditions, that is, the Exif data is perfectly readable by Exifer, for instance. In other way, all the metadata inside the JPEG file seams to be OK, except the thumbnail problem! Thank you in advance for your special attention! Best regards. Pedro.

First of all, it is never advisable to copy a picture from the computer to a memory card or camera. Most of the time, it will corrupt the card and sometimes the camera. Second, the procedure for connection to a tv needs to follow a detailed procedure. This is different for each tv and camera. For example, on my tv, my camera and tv need to be off, I make the connection, turn on the tv, set the tv menu to "photos", turn on the camera, and then follow the on-screen prompts from there. If I change that order, I have problems.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I have put a 4gig sd card in my finepix a900 and it keeps saying "card error"

Hello :

Look for a tiny switch on the side of the SD card . This switch indicated [ Lock or Unlock ] . You need to unlock it . If that didn't help , then you need to format the SD card before using it . If that didn't help also , then the problem is with your Camera and not with the SD card . there also must be a sensor in the [ reader on the camera ] which detects the position of the switch. Maybe there is dirt in the sensor. The best way to check would be to try another SD card . but you could try blowing out any possible dirt and see if that fixes the problem . If that didn't help , then you need to format your 4giga SD card before inserting it inside your Camera .

SD card Protected

It sounds like the tiny locking switch on the SD card has accidently been set to "lock". Remove the card from the camera and slide the switch to the opposite position. That should do it.
