Shadow i have a jvc lt-32a61sj tv, on the right hand side there is a circular shadow. about 1/3rd way in. noticable in light pictures, but not in dark

Return it. It is defective

I am guessing the CCFL tube is starting to burn out. Replacing is not impossible but somewhat delicate process.

Since the TV is that old i would recommend you to buy new TV instead when it goes completely dead.

The popping noise is not a good sign. You definitely have a shorted horizontal IC and probably a bad flyback transformer. You will find several bad capacitors that contributed to this problem. The cost of repair will be more than your depreciated TV is worth. Sorry..look for a new one. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

Speakers can cause problems with the correct display of video on TVs but usuall it only concerns direct view tv. Projectors should not have any problems or flat screens. I think you have a different problem Explain better what you mean by distortion in the JVC. Let me know and I will try to help you.

If its just half the screen then you need someone to 'carefully' look at the multi pin connector that connects to the display itself (on top of the screen inside) wriggling it may be all thats needed.

I've had bad connections causing different brightness levels before on JVc sets. Its not a DIY job to get to it!!

1. Hold [menu] and [vol-] button on the side of the TV
2. while holding these, press the [power] button on the side of TV (NOT remote)
3. blue light comes ON and stays ON
4. wait 10 seconds then let go of [menu] and [vol-]
5. wait another 30 seconds and some type of picture should appear

I think this is right. I got it from the JVC call centers guys so sorry if I missed or messed up a step.

your backlight burnt out, this will be a maybe several hundred dollar repair. the screen is backilt by a very expensive flourescent light, without that light, the screen will be black.

Replacing the "light engine" fixed the problem. The technician said that there was a felt-like lining in the light engine to prevent undesirable reflections from the insides of the light-engine hardware, and that it becomes detached and blocks an edge of the picture.

We had a dark line along the right-hand side that was like looking at that portion of the picture through a 1" strip of very dark glass.

Because the DLP is new technology, we purchased an extended warranty from Best Buy (actually, their Magnolia subsidiary) which covered it.

The new light engine was slightly different physically, and the technician had a hard time getting the picture centered and aligned on the screen after installing the new one. In fact, he gave up on the first one and fetched a second one from his truck. He also had problems with the second one, but finally got everything aligned.

Convergence IC's should be replaced before any alignment is
attempted ....part # STK392-560....You need two......mount
to large heatsink...............T.

I have the same problem and was told by a technician that I need to replace the light engine. Probably around $ 700.00.
