Clear BIOS settings

I have just been given an Acer Aspire 5630 notebook. Since I don't want to use Vista and instead install XP, I need to get into the BIOS to change the boot sequence. Unfortunately the guy who gave it to me password protected the bios and then forgot the password. Seems the only way in is to clear the BIOS. Any help on this will be appreciated the phoenixBIOS of my combuter is loked by

D2d recovery

Hi there
You want to restore your computer to its original settings without
recovery CDs?
This recovery process helps you restore the C: drive with the original software content that is installed when you purchase your notebook. Follow the steps below to rebuild your C: drive. (Your C: drive will be reformatted and all data will be erased.) It is important to back up all data files before using this option.
Before performing a restore operation, please check the BIOS settings.
1 To activate the BIOS utility, press <F2> during boot up.
2 Check to see if Acer disk-to-disk recovery is enabled or not.
3 Make sure the D2D Recovery setting in Main is Enabled.
4 Exit the BIOS utility and save changes. The system will reboot.
To start the recovery process:
1 Restart the system.
2 While the Acer logo is showing, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to
enter the recovery process.
3 Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.

Good luck and Merry Christams

Flashing BIOS via software

If you have access to the computer when it's turned on, you could try one of those programs that remove the password from the BIOS, by invalidating its memory. However, it might happen you don't have one of those programs when you have access to the computer, so you'd better learn how to do manually what they do. You can reset the BIOS to its default values using the MS-DOS tool DEBUG (type DEBUG at the command prompt. You'd better do it in pure MS-DOS mode, not from a MS-DOS shell window in Windows). Once you are in the debug environment enter the following commands:

AMI/AWARD BIOS
Code: O 70 17
O 71 17
Quit PHOENIX BIOS
Code: O 70 FF
O 71 17
Quit GENERIC
Invalidates CMOS RAM.
Should work on all AT motherboards
(XT motherboards don't have CMOS)
Code: O 70 2E
O 71 FF
Quit
Note that the first letter is a "O" not the number "0". The numbers which follow are two bytes in hex format.

Aspire 5630 orbi cam

** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that
folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.

If that does not work then do this:

Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering Technology then Acer E-Recovery - The look at the bottom and you will
"Backup", "Burn disk" and Restore" choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say
extracting) - once extracted - click Install or Guides and Manuals if needing Orbicam instructions - click Vista or (XP) on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the
right side of the screen, then look for Bison driver or (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) you have then click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions. Then repeat steps above and instead of driver choose Bison (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) Utility

Xp

The driver you have downloaded may only support windows Vista. This may be your case. As one technical expert says that all driver versions above 100 are made for vista. So download some lesser versions.
