Hi, I have a Asko W6221 washing machine. It is about 6 years old. Just recently it has started to leak water/washing detergent down the front of the machine, from the gap that is located underneath the detergent draw. It does this at the beginning of a wash cycle. At first I thought I was using too much powder or that it might of been the detergent/ powder that I was using. I have reduced and changed my powders / detergents and the problem still continues. What do you suggest?

Air-gap device -The air gap is a small device found on most washers that prevents the wash water from being siphoned into the household water supply. It's located either mid-way along or at the end of the black rubber hose that comes from the water-inlet valve. Often it's made of translucent plastic. If one of the air-gap components deforms or cracks, you may need to replace it.

The tube -There's a rubber tube that runs between the water-inlet valve and either the air-gap or the inlet spout. If it cracks or breaks, it can cause a leak.

Inlet spout -Most washers have a plastic spout near the top of the main clothes tub that directs the water into the tub. If the spout cracks or breaks free of its mounting, it can cause a leak.

Clothes smell.

Mold, mildew and other fun things use washers as a breeding ground. Clean your machine with a generous amount of white vinegar run through a cycle. Or there is a product called Affresh you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot.

Asko front load washing machine

When u use front loaders you normally don't need a soak. And i don't think you need bleach. Use front loading powders for the machine. The automatic machine is supposed to work for you. The water empties out, so you can open the door.

Detergent not being washed out of dispenser

This suggestion is not too good. If your dispenser opens at the initial stages of the cycle, just a little - pour some water into the dispenser to wash down the detergent. (For my machine i can pull out the dispenser anytime during the wash, except when water comes into the dispenser, but even then i think the water enters the tub.) For this you dont have to hang around the machine for long for it is in the initial stages of the cycle. Later you hv to check the flow of water into the dispenser. Hv no idea how to do it; but i gave you a quick solution.

Machine drains and dial turns directly to S after filling with water.

moe thasn likly you have a pressure switch that is either telling the machine its too full and making it drain or its not seeing the switch and so it drains. Another possibility ids the machine is leaking. Pull the lower cover off and make sure there is no water in the bottom. These askos have a float switch down there that will run the drain if the sense water leaking into the lower tray. Last but not least, you could have a bad timer. these timers are covered for 5 years (parts only) from date of installation. The first 4 digits of the serial # will tell yuo when the machine was made the firts 2 are the year and the second 2 are the week of that year (so a serial beginning in 0145 woul;d mean built in the 45th week of 2001 and so on. Good luck!
