If You mean keyboard number pad Press the "Num Lk" button, which is located to the right of the "F12" key along the top of the keyboard, to turn on the keyboard number pad. The Inspiron 1525 number pad mimics the type of the number pad you would find on a larger keyboard. The blue numbers on the keys in the middle of the keyboard are activated when you press the "Num Lk" button. For example, if you press the "U" button on the keypad, a "5" will appear on the screen when the "Num Lk" is enabled. Press the "Num Lk" button again to turn off the number pad

Press the num lock button - usually the top left hand button on the keyboard numbers on right hand side of keyboard.

You can find the serial number on the underside of the keyboard.

right first off im assuming this isn't a full size keyboard with the number pad on the right.

so when you have a laptop keyboard some characters share with others, in your case numb lock has been pressed and is replacing the letter u with 4

Sounds like NUMlock, or another function key like that. Are those numbers on the keys themselves? That's a common problem for laptop keyboards that do not have number pads.

I can understand the issue. I checked for all the possible option i found NUMBER LOCK may be missing. Please check for replacement...

before you can use the number on the right side of the keyboard, the numlock on the keyboard must be on. i.e the first key on the numeric keypad must be pressed once for the light to come on.

There should be a button called "numlock" which will enable to you use the keypad to the right of the keyboard, however, you don't need to "lock" the keyboard to use the numbers on the top row.

Sounds like you might need a new keyboard.  

ok in the keyboard there is fn right. Hold FN+Number lock (num lk) then it should transfer back to letters
