Printer Problems

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

I have my Canon MX420 printer hooked up, my computer recognizes it's existence, and the printer prints fine by itself. However, every time I try to print from my computer via wi-fi, my computer says...

If your printer has the network cable plugged into it then your halfway there. Make sure that as well as having a hard line network cable plugged into your router, you need to connect the printer to the wifi signal as well. On your printer, push your settings button, scroll to your wireless lan setup, and connect to your router and if password protected, enter in the password and you should then be connected to you router, now try printing using your laptop or device through your wireless connection, and it should print. Please post back if you need further instructions or help!

Cannot get the wireless connection to work on the printer. The USB cable is connected to the back of the PCU. I've installed and uninstalled twice and nothing. It did work when I first got it and...

Here are some guidelines to identify and fix your wireless communication issue:
  • What is the status of the Wi-Fi light on the printer? Green light means that it's connected to a wireless network while Orange light means it's not connected to a network.
  • Try to print the printer's wireless network settings to determine if it's connected to your own wireless network. On the printer operator panel, touch the Setup button > Network Setup > Print Setup Page. Your printer will then print the its wireless network information page. Ensure that the printer is connected to your network by checking the Network Card Status, Wireless SSID, Quality or Trouble Code.
  • If printer is not connected to your network, you may need to reset your printer's wireless network settings. On the printer operator panel, press Setup button > Network Setup > Reset Network Settings. The Wi-Fi light on the printer will momentarily turn off then back on to solid orange. You can then run the Wireless Setup Utility application on your computer to reconfigure the printer to connect to your wireless network. On your computer, launch the Lexmark Printer Home application > go to Settings tab > Wireless Setup Utility. Please follow the instructions on your computer screen.

How do i change the language bak to English? And how do i print from my macbook laptop onto the printer

TO CHANGE THE LANGUAGE:

From the printer control panel, press the 'Spanner' icon.

Press the right arrow button, and then press OK

Press OK again.

Press the arrow buttons until the language that you want appears on the display, and then press OK.
If you are sure, press the right arrow button, and then press OK to change the language.
To print from your macbook laptop you may have to install additional software onto your laptop from the installation CD. Insert the CD and wait for the 'Welcome' screen to appear. (Note if the 'Welcome' screen does not appear after a minute, then click the CD icon on the desktop). Double click 'Install' and follow the screen instructions.

Some additional notes that may apply to your machine(s):

If the printer is connected to a desktop computer through the rear USB port and you decide to connect a laptop computer to the printer through the Quick Connect laptop port, then the Quick Connect laptop port connection overrides the rear USB port connection. The active print jobs on the desktop computer may be cancelled. Pause or cancel active jobs on the desktop computer before switching between ports.

To summerise:

Pause or cancel active jobs on the desktop computer.

Connect a USB cable to the laptop computer and then to the Quick Connect laptop port on the front of the printer.

Warning-Potential Damage: Do not plug in or remove the USB cable from the Quick Connect laptop port while a memory device is being accessed by the printer.

If you have not yet installed the printer software on your laptop then install it now.

Hope this helps
