Sometime read cd or dvd, sometime not read cd dvd. i have dell inspiron 1318 laptop pls help me.

the short answer is no, it was an economy laptop maybe 5 years ago so would not have been equipped with what would have been a very expensive option

If you mean the DVD/CD drive then the only way to remove the disc is to disassemble the drive which requires removing the keyboard, palm rest and display panel. Here is a link to your laptop's service manual:

Can you get ANY numbers off the sticker? What you can do is contact DELL and give them your service tag number, they should have your product key (on the bottom as well). Also, the number should be in the CD sleeve that came with the laptop.

have you gone to the dell on line support

try to reinstall the application, media , found on the icon or your cd recovery set --

there should be an icon on the bottom right of your screen - see if you can reach tech support -- you will need to give them your service tag # located on back of your laptop

Disk read error is indicative of a hard disk drive failure. If under warranty, call Dell for a replacement drive. If not you can buy drives at places like Newegg.com or EBay

Call Dell tomorrow... it will still be under warranty!

One thing to try is removing the battery and running it straight from the power adaptor. If it runs, you have a bad battery.

Hi, If your Dell 1525 has got a CDROM drive or CD Burner/Writer then you can only Read and Write the CD's

But if you got a DVD optical Drive then you can Read CD and DVD too...
