Camera turns "on", can read menus, etc, but, there is no image on LCD screen?

On page 8 of the basic operate manual you see the backside of the camera and there you find the display button. Try pressing that one several times, while in recording mode.

You could try a power reset of the printer.
Press ON button to turn off printer
Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer
Remove all of the ink cartridges
Wait 3 minutes
Plug the power cord back into the printer
Press the ON button to turn on the printer
Install back all of the cartridges

If this does not work, you could try a hardware reset.
1) Press and hold LEFT ARROW and then press SETUP
Release both buttons
2) Press OK
3) Press & release RIGHT ARROW until LCD reads System Configuration Menu 2
4) Press OK
5) LCD reads Hardware Failure Status: Clear, Press OK to clear
6) Press OK, LCD now reads Cleared, Press Cancel to continue.
7) Press & release CANCEL until the Welcome or Ink System
Failure screen appears on LCD
8) DO NOT PRINT AT THIS STAGE
9) Use POWER button to turn OFF printer
10) Unplug power cord from electrical outlet and from back of printer
11) Wait 1 minute. plug power cord back into outlet first then back into the printer
12)Turn on the printer, Press OK
The printer will start to initiate, do not interrupt.

When I turn the camera on the screen shows a white light. No image

  1. Verify that the lens cap is not covering the camera lens.
  2. If operating the camera with a battery, ensure the battery is fully charged.
  3. If operating the camera with the power adapter, ensure it is plugged into a working AC outlet.
  4. Verify that the LCD screen is turned on.
  5. Adjust the LCD brightness control.
  6. Change the shutter speed or aperture settings.
  7. If the issue is not resolved, try resetting the camera.

Using an Initialize option in the menu

Since Cyber-shot cameras have different menu system layouts, refer to the instruction manual specific for your camera model.

Using a RESET button

  1. Locate the RESET button on the camera.
  2. Use a pointed object (like a ballpoint pen) to press and hold the RESET button for 2-3 seconds.
  3. After 2-3 seconds has elapsed, release the RESET button.

Performing a manual power reset

  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Remove the battery pack.
  3. Remove the button-sized lithium battery.
  4. Allow the camera to remain without power for 30 seconds.
  5. Reinsert the button-sized lithium battery.
  6. Reinsert the battery pack.
  7. Turn on the camera.

The camera will not take a picture it stalls sometimes does not take the picture at all this began happening when the LCD screen has a different menu when it is turned on possibly the flash screen with a...

There are a great deal of settings that can cause these unexpected results. Most of them are the result of the inability to focus when in any of the auto focus modes.

It may be a good time to do a RESET on the camera to restore the settings to factory defaults. This can be done by pressing and holding the 2 buttons with GREEN DOTS for a few seconds. One button is on the lower left of the rear display and the other is on top - near the shutter release button. You can download and read about this reset feature in the manual on page 11.

Additionally, you can read a review and learn about some helpful settings to try on your D40 here. I hope this was helpful!

LCD display isn't on

In order to turn on Live View, first put the camera in one of the Creative Zone modes (i.e. P, Tv, Av, M or A-DEP). Then press the menu button, and scroll to the second settings menu (the second wrench-symbol), then scroll down to "Live View function settings" and press the SET-button. Then scroll to "Live view shoot", press SET, scroll to "Enable", and press set again. Close the menu by pressing the menu button twice.
Now you can turn on and off the live view on the LCD by pressing the SET-button.

Reading lens error on nikoncoolpix l12

Hitting camera on desk once has partial fix.
When camera's batteries taken out & then put back in and the power on button pressed to switch camera on, the lens extends out & the camera now works.
BUT when the power button pressed to switch camera off the lens retracts AND a "Lens Error" msg appears on the LCD screen.
Just have to take batteries out to remove msg & start again as above but WITHOUT hitting the camera.
Thanks
