Mt acer aspire 9410z running vista will not connect to a wireless network. I logged on to another wireless at another location and have not been able to log on to mine at home since. Running a linksys g router
Does your home router have a password? The only thing I can think of doing is removing all the preferred access points from your wireless card's utility or windows (located at start => Setting => Net connections => Wireless => Wireless Networks.
Then add your home access point back.
That probably solved it. Ignore the following technogobblygook:
You can't have a static address with dhcp unless you choose one within the routers dhcp range (for example: 192.168.1.xxx). The other info someone would need to setup a static ip in a dhcp network (like gateway address and netblock) can be found by running ipconfig /all.
Also most residential-grade wireless routers/APs use dhcp, to make things easy. Imagine having to type an ip address, gateway, and netblock everytime you went to a coffee shop!

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't know what step fixed the problem, I put a static ip in the settings, then went within closer range, disconnected and retried, no good, then changed back to auto ip assign and connected all the way. Computer must be a female!!
