TV picture will give a double image. Picture with a second image of red. Like it is pulling the red away from its normal position. Usually happens when cold and tends to correct after being on for awhile but not always. Turning power off and back on will fix sometimes also.

This problem commonly referred to as ghosting is caused due to faulty convergence ICs in the set. The three different base colors(Red, Blue, Green) in CRT projection tvs are generated by 3 different tubes . THe convergence amplifier ICs help converge these images before they are projected on the screen. Replacing the ICs should resolve your problem. If you are good at fixing electronics and know how to solder let me know and I will help you do it yourself

Resolder the convergence IC pins chances are the solder is causing the issue since it seems to correct itself.

Tv has no picture but has sound

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.

If it's picture that's giving a double image from your terrestrial aerial it's called ghosting , you need to move your antenna it's caused by signal reflection and usually happens when your in a strong signal area.

My zenith sentry tv has a double image on the words that come on screen. The people are clear but all wording has double images

Hello
Double images are technically called Ghosts, occures due to the setting and direction on the antena. You have to reorient your antena, in such a way that Ghosts disappeares from your screen. The reson for this fault is not with the TV, as it gets a direct transmission signal, and a reflected signal of the same, reflected from near or far objects, like tall buldings, hills and so on. The signals, the orginal and the reflected, will be processed by the TVs internal ciiruit, and the first will appear as strong picture, followed by the second, a weak picture, will be seemed as an image of the first one, just on the right side [view point] of your TV.
You just adjust the position and height of your antena, looking the picture, where there is minimum Ghost level is. No other repair should be done to your TV, as it is perfect, and you just give it only direct signal path. OK.

Hi,
Problem cause is red convergence output chip failure that will be replaced to fix the issue.
If you have experience of electronics stuff repair and can replace parts in circuit board as it requires soldering work with proper tools then can replace convergence output IC in your tv by yourself.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Tv has double image at top of screen..can cover green lens and double image goes away.what can cause this and how can I repair?

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai2_bing.gif,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Alot of red and double image

I had same problem. First went in tomenu and went to set up settings and went to convergence area. I then reset this back to default, which I later was told I should have not done so do not attempt this it will temporarily fix issue but problem will persisit.
I found a local tv repair man thru tvrepairguy.com or something like that as they are hard to find.
The issue turned out to be the convergence boards or circuits, He then went in to master control and rset the convergence settings for the main picture by lining up the red and blue lines on to a white cross on the screen until it is black and white with no red or blue protruding vertically or laterally. He then did this for 7 points around center picture moving the lines. He suggests you play with this for awhile in a position you would normally sit in and at proper eye level to give you the truest picture for alignment. The part cost 109 to replace with labor and service total was 331. The repairman was very nice and explained the issue should be fixed and we should get another 6 to 7 years out of television.
Hope this helps,
