Your OS can be slow due to

--virus infection
-- too many programs running in background
--junk data stored in system, browser and registry of your computer.
-outdated device drivers.
-hard disk fragmentation
-faulty RAM

To speed up your OS, you need to

-- clean system junk
-- optimize computer services
-- repair registry
-- defrag registry
-- clear browsers junk

You can do all this using some reliable software such as PC Fresher.

Thanks

Here's a few tips you can try to fix your slow startup problem. First of all you want to disable any programs that are in the startup menu that you do not absolutely need. There is no sense in waiting for programs to load that you don't use on a regular basis. Or if you are not sure which one is slowing your startup. You can disable them one at a time.

If that did not help, you can disable your Windows sidebar. You'll also want to remove any icons from your desktop that you do not absolutely need. The same goes for your task bar and quick start menu. All of these will slow down your boot time.

Check to make sure your anti virus program is not scanning at startup. Some programs are set to scan. When windows boots, by default. You will also want to do a full anti virus scan to make sure you don't have a worm or any other type of virus that is working in the background slowing your operations down.

The biggest reason for a slow boot time is a corrupt or damaged Registry. The registry will become corrupted from installing and uninstalling programs. Perhaps you have loaded programs onto your new Vista computer and were not compatible and then uninstall them. They leave behind files, which Windows tries to reference on startup. Since they are no longer on your computer. Your system goes through a long search trying to find them. You need to clean and optimize your Windows registry to eliminate any bad or orphaned files.

You can do this manually if you are an experienced computer technician. It is not recommended for most users. Windows does not have a built-in tool for repairing, cleaning, or optimizing your registry. You will need to download and run a third-party registry repair program to do this.

A good piece of software that will do this for you with a click of the mouse is a wise investment for any computer. You will have it for years to come, and can schedule it to do weekly maintenance. This will keep your PC fully optimize and running fast. It's like giving your computer a tuneup.

Web pages slow down, FIX.
The tweak is simple. Beside the QoS and others around the Internet for the new XP OS, I found out that native drivers sometimes slow you down (cable and xDSL users). So if you have applied all tweaks and you are still having slow downs try reinstalling your NICs drivers.
I have reinstalled my NIC drivers (I own a CNET generic NIC, native driver is installed with OS) with the latest found on their website, and now I can really apretiate all my available bandwith. The difference is noticeable. My web pages now load almost instantly where they used to take even a minute!
As allways, this tweak worked well for me, but may not work with everybody, just try! You can go back to native drivers anytime.
Good Luck!

only where you live is there support.
NO OS stated. 9 versions of windows.what is it?
it came with XP right, 2003 is XP, so is it still
that rotten dirty XP virus magnet? if yes it is doomed. your shop in town will not touch it.

so answering in GENERIC PC ways, I say...

Packard Bell EasyNote Ajax C3 (built 2003)

Cpu is underpowered and impacting performance. Also not all RAM can't be used in a 32bit OS What is the fix for HP g60 235dx

most CPU are slow , you get what you pay for, just like slow cars are slow. T4200 core 2 is slow. and is OLD.
impacting performance doing what? PC can do 10,000- things, I can not guess what you do. or if online or offline slow.
NO OS told at all nor version, just the word OS. must we guess the topic?
old PCs are 32bit.
and 32bit OS
2 to the 32nd power is 4GIG. (do the math see?)_ calculators.

4GB of ram ,is 3.2GB to make that lame GPU chip use DDR aS VRAM
'as the GPU has no VRAM there, so STEALS it.
intel even uses that word in their data sheet (chipset g45)

chrome OS or Chrome browser ,what?
no version told

the sales add shows 3GB OF RAM That is round down from 3.2
and is 750MB below 4GB physical RAM seen in BIOS page 1.

the limits are Manifold
the old core2, CPU
the limits of GM45,. chip set.

see the limits on G45 (m = mobile) lost at intel now but is here
DDR2 only on your PC. 2 slots, 2x2 =4GB minus VRAM theft.
means 3.2GB;. some PC
some models then were sold with 1+2=3GB , to save costs.
2+2 is max, here, that is a hard cold fact of life G45.!!!

load Ubuntu on this old dog and be happy, as vista is NOT IT.

better is buy a used i3 or up ,far far far better PC.
any PC,
not this dog.
