Sounds like from what you describe is that your speakers ohms might be to low for the Receiver and making it over heat.Take a look at your speakers ohms rating and then look at what your Receiver is rated for most receivers can handle down to about 6 ohms nothing lower. There are some out there that can handle lower but from what I can see about yours it handles about 8 ohms.
I would think if it was a power supply problem you would see a dimming effect on the front panel display when you crank it but it really hard to say with out putting a meter on it.Is there any way that you can test another set of speakers? Before you go into the unit to replace anything I would try to eliminate that first, I know it seems I am dwelling on the speakers but most of the time what you describe is related to bad wiring or incorrect ohms match or just a blown speakers causing the amp IC to get over heated.

both are 8ohms
My receiver and speakers are 8 ohms, so I'm not sure, if your suggestion would resolve my problem. Any other thoughts....would be appreciated.
Sometime back i did change the power supply for the receiver, would that be a cause?
