Mini DV tapes transfer to computer

I am trying to transfer my mini dv tape recordings from my canon on to my computer so i can eventually put on to dvd. I have attached a firewall cable that was supplied and it will not show any files on the tape mode. If I have it on the card mode then the files will show up once you click on the Canon symbol. How do I view and even better transfer my mini dv tapes on to my computer. I have no CD installer with this camera other than for the Canon DV messenger.

Can you help

Thanks

Hayley

How do I get my Samsung sc d 353 mini DV tape recordings on computer

To transfer the recordings from your Samsung SC D353 Mini DV tape to your computer, you'll need to follow these steps:

1. Connect the camcorder to your computer: Use a FireWire (also called IEEE 1394) cable to connect your Samsung SC D353 Mini DV camcorder to your computer. Most computers have a FireWire port, but if yours doesn't, you can purchase a FireWire adapter card.
2. Turn on the camcorder: Turn on your Samsung camcorder and set it to VCR mode.
3. Open the video capture software: On your computer, open the video capture software that came with your operating system (e.g. Windows Movie Maker, iMovie on Mac) or a third-party video capture software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) that supports Mini DV tape.
4. Start recording: In the video capture software, select the option to capture video from a DV device. Click the Record button in the software and then press Play on the camcorder to begin playing the Mini DV tape. The video should be captured and recorded onto your computer.
5. Save the video: Once the video has been captured, you can edit it if necessary and then save it to your computer in the desired format.

Note: If you do not have the original video capture software, it is recommended that you search and download compatible software before beginning the transfer process. Additionally, make sure your computer has enough storage to store the transferred files.

DCR-HC26 will record but will not play

There are two solutions, one, buy a mini dv tape player. They are kind of expensive, but you will be able to get your information off your tapes. Second, buy a used, working mini dv camcorder on ebay and use it to get your information off your tapes. A five year old camcorder is not work fixing.

Transfer from pz card shot on HD to mini DV tape

you can transfer to DV tape only by using software like Edius 6 or a similar one.
First you download the p2 card on the hard drive and then you use this program to convert the video file to DV and use the camcorder as recorder connecting to pc via firewire .

Transfering from a hard drive camcorder to a mini dv

Yes. Using a DV or firewire cable and the right software you can record to DV tape. I know Pinnacle Studio software is capable of doing this and will even control the recording of the taping as well through the sofware.

Recording from the Mini DV to VHS Tape

Mini dv is a digital recording and VHS is analogue so they are incompatible. Does your camera have an analogue output? That is a lead that ends with something like RCA plugs or a Scart plug. Then you can feed the signal into a VHS recorder.

Canon xl1

I had the exact same problem; my tape icon was flashing red with a line through it and the recorder would not record, no matter how hard I begged it to. After a full day of frustration, I called the videographer who had used it previously. There is a little trick.

1. Open the exterior tape door with the "Eject" button.
2. Wait, dont touch the tape. The little metal encasement will pop over and open within a few seconds.
3. To properly put the tape in, insert tape, push the little metal door that sais "Push this first".
4. Then push the exterior door closed.

Voila! Thats all there is to it!
