Does not spin dvd

Sometimes the brushless motor driver circuit fails. Rarely does the motor itself go bad. On some models, if the the laser diode is too weak to read the disc, the player will not bother to spin it. It won't spin so a lens cleaner disc won't work You can try to take it apart and clean the tiny lens. Don't use alcohol. Windex and a Q-tip works great to remove grease and dirt. Don't buff it hard. Just wipe lightly a few times and look at it at an angle to make sure it is shiny, not hazy. Almost all of these are not an economically viable repair. If cleaning the lens does not help, you are looking at another portable player.

Trouble with Dvd player in Dell Inspiron 530

Find the small pin hole on DVD player and use a straightened paper clip to manually eject in case there is a stuck disc.

Use system restore to roll back your system. Look for a restore point longer than the three days.

I don't see a correlation between the two because the system should work even you don't have an optical drive (CD\DVD).

I already wrote disc but how to overwrite a disc

On a CD-R, if you don't finalize or write protect the disk, can you overwrite a file?

Or in overwriting are you simply creating a second file of the same name in the TOC/directory and deleting the name, only, of the first file

You can add more data if there is space on the DVD+R, but you can't overwrite it.

You see, when a disc is burned, little microscopic ridges are put onto the disc. This is your data.

You cannot overwrite this data.

It's kind of like trying to use a permanent marker on the same spot of paper twice.

Recorded pictures onto a DVD on my computer, they won't play on the ZV420mw8

I looked up your DVD player's model number online. It is not equiped to read picture files (.jpg, .bmp, etc.) You have to be carefull when you transfer pictures to a DVD on your computer. If you just burn them to the disc, most DVD players wont be able to read the information. Frequently you have to use a program like Microsoft Movie Maker to get them in the right format.

You may have to start over and use a DVD making program to make them a video and not just picture files.

Hope this helps! Don't forget to rate!

I don't know how to download cd's and dvd's on dell EL-1210-09

What do you mean download cd's and dvd's? You don't download them, you simply put them in the drive and play them. If you purchased a music cd or a movie dvd that you want to play or watch, then just put it in the drive. The system will recognize it and automatically open Windows Media Player for you to play it or you can open it yourself if autoplay is not active.

Exactly what is it that you are trying to do?

If you are talking about putting a blank cd or dvd into the drive to copy music or a movie to it, that's another story and will take a while to explain. You will basically need to make sure your CD/DvD drive can burn CD's or Dvd's. Then you will need some type of burning software (later versions of Window Media Player will burn).

Click Start/My Computer and look at your devices. if your DvD/CD Drive is listed look for RW which means rewritable (it can burn or copy). If it say DVDrw it can read and write dvd's. If it says CDrw it can read and write cd's. You can also look on the drive door on the computer where you would place the cd or dvd. If it says Rewritable CDrw (it can write cd's) or DvDrw (it can write dvd's). If it says ROM (read only media), that means it can Read Only and not write.

If the drive is rewritable then the software such as Media Player will allow you to go find what you want to put on the cd or dvd. You have two ways of putting things in the software to burn or write. You can copy and paste, or you can drag and drop.

It reads cd fine ,but all of sudden dont read dvds.......that same day i was watching a movie..... thats about it thanks before hand.

Hi danielest745,

Please try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaner and also make sure that you don't have unbranded DVDs running in it.

This indicates that the lens is dying, these are the symptoms you will find before the DVD player cannot read anything.
The problem could be also with the failed or about to to fail diode which is responsible for controlling the frequency to determine the DVD media.

Best option would be to get it replaced , if it's under warranty or get it repaired by an authorized center if it's worth it...:)

Hope this helps ..:) Your feedback would be appreciated.

Doesn't read disc

Glenn's answer is incomplete. I have the same machine. I am currently experiencing a similar problem. The machine reads cd's, vcd's, but it will not read dvd's. Commercially purchased dvd's. The problem is not a format problem, not a zone problem. The dvd's work in other machines, so it is not a dvd problem. If anyone has any ideas, please respond. Thank you.
