This is an issue with synchro : one of the screen mainboard components wears out with time. You can fix it by soldering a 50 ohm resistor, as shown here : http://teleservice.xooit.fr/t6017-Samsung-SyncMaster-710V-Perte-de-Syncro.htm

Testimonial: "Thanks alot :) I've been some troubles to solder it,but once I did it, is working :) Really thanks :D"

1280x1024 is the native settings for your monitor, and this is why you cant change it as its max for this model.{ It features a 500:1 contrast ratio, a brightness of 290 cd/m2, pixel pitch of 0.264mm, 1280 x 1024 maximum resolution}.........darktowernz

My computer is on but all I see on the monitor is a floating box with the message "Not Optimum Mode Recommended Mode: 1280X1024 60Hz.

Try connect a different monitor on your computer and change the resolution to 1280x1024. After that, replug the new monitor and it should work.

I am getting an error not optiumum mode recommended mode 1280x1024 60hz

If you right-click on the desktop and select 'properties' and go to the 'Settings' tab you will be able to use the slider to change your monitor resolution to 1280x1024.

If you then select the 'Advanced' tab you will see a setting somewhere which refers to the screen refresh rate. Change this to 60Hz.

This should give you the best picture settings on your monitor.

No picture on screen

Try to use the resolution same or lower than 1280x1024 60htz. This is a known hardware fault for Samsung LCD analog monitors.
