If you're using it in a car with a car charger then you should be able to plug it in and use it straight away and the battery will charge while its being used.

If you're charging it to use while you're on the move without it being plugged in then it will take 6 hours to fully charge which should give you 2 to 3 hours of use.

I have had the Magellan Mastro laying on my desk for about a month without being charged. When I now pluged in the charger nothing happens. The screen stays dark.

Try doing a master reset on the unit. It should have a hole marked "Reset". Use a blunt toothpick or end of large paperclip, pressing in on the small button inside for about 10 seconds. It should come back to life. You may see a flash of text on the screen. If so, release the button. It would probably be best to leave power hooked up while doing this, in case the battery has not taken a good charge. Thanks, Bill.

My magellan mastro gps touch screen will not respond. less than 4 months old. magellan wants me to send the unit back to be replaced by a refurbed unit with a 3 month warranty. i would like to know how can...

turn it on, make sure the battery has a good charge on it, then locate the reset hole on the left side near the bottom and use a paper clip to depress the switch...youll know its reset if the unit goes off and reboots....if that fail, it needs a digitizer (the part that lets you navigate your magellan) its the upper layer over the touch screen.

i buy broken magellans off ebay if i need a digitizer or screen..normally for under 20.00

My Magellan Maestro 3100 GPS unit won't charge anymore. I've seen 2 possible explanations for this problem. #1: The DC power port is broken #2: The battery won't hold a charge any longer How do I determine...

if it starts, you can verifiy if its charging by going to the system settings then power options. the green indicator should be moving left to right. this indicates its charging.

if you disconnect the battery, your magellan should still work while plugged in if the power port is ok.

this is very common problem with this and many model magellans.

try the car charger.

make sure green light is on the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (up to ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

the following magellan 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3100, 3140, 4000, 4040, 4050 and the 6000 are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port...

you can get it repaired, here
or buy the port here

if you need further help, just let me know.

My Magellan Roadmate 1412 does not seem to charge. I cannot use the device unless it is plugged into a wall outlet or car charger. Does this model not have a battery? Please help. Thanks!

does it appear to be charging when its plugged in....go to the system folder then the power option..the power bar should be moving left to right...if its all green and its not scrolling left to rigth , its receiving power but not charging. possibly because the charge port is damaged or the battery is either shot or disconnected.

Will not come on.

GPS units should never be permanently left in vehicles. The vehicle interiors get way too cold or hot depending on the climate you live in and is very damaging.

Try taking it indoors and connect it via the supplied a/c wall charger and see if it turns on.
