Canon IXUS 960 is failure. The camera was working one minute and then totally failed to open about five minutes later. have chargedthe battery and checked voltage - around 4.11 and 4.07 volts. Any help this is the second canon camera that has failed within a few years of purchase. The last was a canon IXIS 400 which seemed to suffer a similar failure. Is this common for Canon are they intrisically unreliable? Derek

sorry , i must only say ..... yes

some brand of canon camera has this problem .

and this is actually depending to the chance of buyers which to get the good or bad device .

if you have supported by warranty, i recommended to return it to the relative company.

Check on the display to see if you haven't accidentally set it to macro or manual focus mode. Macro mode is a small flower shaped icon and manual focus is shown as an MF symbol on the display.

My canon ixus 960 has water damage. It was in my rucksack when I was caught in the rain. It won't work at all. Can it be fixed?

As with most electronics the only possible fix is to remove the battery and keep it in a warm environment for a good while to let the electrics dry out.

Sadly though the damage is usually done and condensation on the optics probably is not a good thing for taking clear pics.

I would likely say you will need to replace the camera sadly :(

My Canon Digital IXUS 960 IS camera will not turn on despite having the battery fully charged. What is wrong with it?

Is the battery powerfull enough? Meaning has enough DC current in it to powerup? There are 2 "ON" buttons one at which the lens comes out, the second to view pictures.

My camera dropped down and after checking found working normal. Later it hit somewhere and stopped working. Now its turns while switching on and immediately turns off itself

the circuit in the camera has broken down, it needs to handle technically, it is suggested that you may contact nearest cannon service center.

I have a similar problem with my camera which is about 2 or 3 years old. Seems to be a circuit board issue. Costs about €90 to €100.

I returned my Ixus960IS to Canon for repairs (warranty); it returned with a swapped circuit (they had noted). Working 100% again since.
