Hi, I have downloaded 2 video files from the internet (bbc footage) and I can't play them with vlc media player. It says it does not support the format "undf". How can I play them? Thank you for your time!

Hi, I am not the best in computer literacy but here goes http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/player/emp/1_1_... . I was looking on google for video footage of harrier jump jets (air craft), I have downloaded 2 from the bbc, both have different titles but are exactly the same size, so may be the same. I use "internet download manager" and it works very well. I have downloaded other videos of the harrier jump jets from other sites successfully but the bbc is not working? The faster way to find the site or link might be to do what I did and google harrier jump jet/click on the video link/ click high quality , they are about 74mb in size. both are bbc news, one is archives and the other is how to fly. Thanks.

Hi, I downloaded the program you suggested and it plays the first couple of seconds - which shows the bbc logo and then it stops. It looks like the play list is only a couple of seconds long! Do you have any other suggestions? You may be right about the protection of their footage, bbc that is! Thank you once again1

Welcome to FixYa.

Please point me to the link of the BBC footage you downloaded and how did you downloaded the footage?

"undf" is not a file type. It is the error message produced by VLC when it does not understand the kind of file you want it to play. The footage might have not properly downloaded.

I'll be waiting for your response.

BBC and other news website puts extra effort on securing their picture and video content that is why sometimes we are not able to download it properly.

It looks like the file you have downloaded is in ".SWF" format. This is a flash format and if I'm not mistaken VLC does not support this kind of format because technically, it is not a video format.

To play the file you downloaded, use the Media Player Classic.

Download and Install the XP-Codec-Pack 2.5.1 from this link http://www.xpcodecpack.com/download

The installation includes installing the Media Player Classic.

Use the Media Player Classic to play the video.

    Keep me posted.

It seems you don't have any codecs... The problem is not in windows media player.
Just install a codec pack like http://www.free-codecs.com/download/codec_pack_all_in_1.htm

Video showing codec error

Hi,
The video you are trying to play requires a CODEC which your media player most likely does not have.
There is a very good media player available for free download which has many codecs bundled within the software package and it's therefore able to play most of the different types of video files. The media player is called VLC and you can download it by clicking on the following link:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/vlc/files/1.1.11/win32/vlc-1.1.11-win32.exe/download

This sounds more like a problem with your projector than with VLC. VLC is just a player, if it works properly on the computer screen then it should work properly going through the computer using the projector as output.

Hi Welcome to FixYa!
1)Simply download and install K-Lite codec pack for Windows media Player. You could download it from this link: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm
2)After downloading, just install it and restart the computer

3)You will now be able to watch or play files with different extensions using Windows Media Player.
Hope this would be a big help.
Enjoy!

Unable to play video clips or avi file on media player 11

You need to play these files on VLC or in Media Player Classic. You can play almost any media file through them.
If you don't have any then you can download VLC media player from the following links:
for windows os zip file 16mb: http://videolan.cdn.cacheboy.net/vlc/0.9.9/win32/vlc-0.9.9-win32.exe
windows 26mb:http://www.gtlib.gatech.edu/pub/videolan/vlc/0.9.9/win32/vlc-0.9.9-win32.zip

& for mac 19mb: http://mirror.leaseweb.com/pub/software/videolan/vlc/0.9.9a/macosx/vlc-0.9.9a-intel.dmg

And if you want media player classic here is a link to download it: http://mirror01.x264.nl/x264/mpc2kxp6490.zip (212mb)

If these players cant play your files then might not have given enough time to download your torrent or must have downloaded corrupt file.
