  • Well when the battery clicks like that it is an indication of either a loose connection of the battery has died.
  • First thing is to make sure that battery got a real good charge first before using the scooter. half a charge won't do much especially being new.
  • Now if some of the metal plating has come off of the connector it is possible the connection is not quite doing it at that point. Imagine how a car sounds when you try to start it and the battery clamp has come a tad loose... click click click click click.
  • In this case you need to try a new connector. You can try the place you got the gogo scooter from or this place sells many scooter parts http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/mobility-battery-chargers.html
  • Make sure the fuse is good and check all wiring for a direct short. Make sure non of the insulation has been negated.
  • Get out a multi-meter and set it to DC and start testing the power feed wires for 12v DC power. Check the ground wire as well and make sure the polarity is 0. If the is polarity in the ground wire anywhere then there is a short somewhere for sure. Start at the connector and move down.
  • Make sure the battery charging unit/cables are functioning properly as well. If the charger is not charging properly it would be hard for the battery to perform properly.
  • Hope this helps and thanks you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

Turn key, no start, dash dead, but intermittent symptons

First I would look for voltage drop of both end of battery terminal.not a look or seem tight . you have to do it (voltage drop) and terminal at alternator.
now does alternator charging. take voltage of battery
if the problem occur have voltage of battery taken
like I read your problem it looks like wiring terminal ground and positive
the noise you hear is probably low voltage to a relay and the dropping voltage make the relay switch inside relay cycling noise click or buzz

next time you fit it adjust the mount that it goes into it may be getting pushed through it rather than just pressing the plunger if you cant adjust the mount try wrapping a cable tie around switch to hold it in place

Jeep doesn't start. Turn key, hear slight click in fuse box but nothing else? Took battery out to be checked Pep Boys says its good, needs a "slight" charge. Went home reinstalled the clean...

clean all connections very good ( batt post connectors, gound wire from batt to frame/motor, also clean starter connections, and alternator connections) I know pep boys checked but you cannot properly check a battery unless it has a full charge!!!!! If it wont accept a full charge then batt is bad, If it charges to a full charge and fails a draw test the batt is bad. also when a draw test is done you can have the charging system checked also to make sure batt is recieving the proper charge input. all inexpensive checks, get it running and take it to a garage, 3 min test usually not even a charge most of the time. NOT A DEALER, and have them show you what they are doing. if you are a female have a male friend go with you or have it done. I dont care what anybody says!!!!!! When it comes to a inexperienced female, the DEALERSHIP,the REPAIR GARAGES will all try to get some kind of MONEY out of you before you leave their place of business.

98' Cav.. Drove it to store, shopped, didnt leave anything running or turned on. Went to car, opened dr...no dome light (thought, hmph, must have burned out -- fix later). Tried to start car... I turned...

this sound to me like at first I thought it was a fuse, as the problem went on it shifted more toward a weak cell in the battery, if a weak cell sits for a little while the battery will not hold the charge in that cell and that will cause loss of power, "its charge", in tne other cells. you had mentioned you used another battery and it ran great but when the battery was removed, things went wrong. You may check to see if there is water in your battery

My 1996 Yamaha FZR 600 won't start. The lights turn on, but when I hit the start button, all I hear is a fast clicking sound. Maybe from the digital ignition box. I have tried jumping it from a car...

sounds like the battery to me, have it checked by a sparky, they dont give you much warning before they **** themselves, I had to replace mine only a few months ago

Good batt & new alternator.. but battery keeps losing charge

Make sure all connections at alternator are attached. On some, the regulator is inside the computer and if bad, requires computer change.

Maxima will not do anything but click once when I turn the key.

I have this problem right now also. Here is the deal as I see it. I have a 97 Saturn SC2 automatic (nuuf said!).
Against my intuition I let the guy at Autozone talk me into a battery, though I suspected the solinoid or the starter motor itself.
Put in the new batt and nothing but a single loud click. I took the new battery back and used the refund money to get a new starter.
I put it in and still just a loud click. I have cleaned the terminals and torqued the cable at the batt and starter.Because the solinoid clicks when I turn the key I am asuming (for now) that the ignition switch, neutral saftey switch and the "Startguard" (the little electric key you have to put in for your car to start) is good. In my knowlege, it has to be the main battery cable that runs from the battery to the starter. Next I'm gonna go out there and turn my key to the on position and connect a jumper cable from the battery directly to the starter solinoids high current side to confirm or bust my suspicion of the bad positive (red) battery cable. I will let you know how it goes.
