    we need to know the model number of the computer or if none. We needed to know the motherboard chipset used, like intel810e ... or go to hp website and find your computer there and get the drivers there too.

Need XP drivers for the MS-7525 Compaq mother board
Almost any drivers will work off the site. MS motherboards are weird like that.

Her is the Compaq support web site.  You will need you model name and type of computer ,laptop  or desktop,as well as model number.  
Download new sound software drivers and install same. 
If you have no help here go to the website of the sound maker of your board by downloading a manual from below and seeing who makes the sound, from the manual.

Plus right on your motherboard there should be a model #. Look that number up and post it here. Ex. Epox 8KDA7I.
