Question about Toshiba e800 Pocket PC

Open Question

Wifi mostly no longer works. The wifi locator program hangs up when before it worked fine. I think the chip or whatever does the wifi is having major problems. I tried a hard reset but no effect. Everything else works fine and the internet works fine when it is in the docking station. 1. are there diagnostic programs I can get and run to check wifi? 2. If wifi hardware is bad, can it be fixed?

I have the same PDA but unfortunately I am not the expert. In my opinion it is not possible to install IE separately. It is not known to me that there is any possibility to download IE for PDA as an individual program. If you have already removed all programs why don’t reinstall the OS and it should work properly again. Did you already install Windows Mobile 2003 SE? Please go to www.microsoft.com and download iExplorer! Try to install it!

SOURCE: wifi switch problem

At first guess, I'd say you have a driver problem. Reboot the machine in safe mode, leaving the switch in the "ON" position. (F8 at startup for safe mode).

Log into the machine, and go to Device Manager. Uninstall/remove the wifi adapter.

Reboot.

Upon reboot, the system will attempt to reinstall the adapter, but you should not have a blue screen. If you have the original drivers, point Windows to them. You don't want Windows to use the "existing" drivers, because that's where the problem occurred.

Once the good drivers are installed, you should be back in business :)

Hope this helps - remember to rate!

Just recently my Huawei ALE-L21 suddenly became less sensitive to wifi signails. To get it to connect to any wifi hub I virtually have to stand over the device!

Hi.
Sounds very much like the wifi channel is busy.
type 192.168.0.1 into your browser bar (or whatever your code might be) and go to your channel settings and change to a less busy channel. There are usually 12 to 14 channels to choose from.
Download a wifi detector to your device and scan for clear channels. most of these are free and all do their job. I use Androids "Wifi Analyzer" and it works just fine.
Find a channel with low clutter and select this as your main user channel, save it and exit. (you can do this as many times as you like)
It sounds a bit complicated but when you've done it once, you will think it's easy.
With only 14 channels, they can get cluttered in built up areas but the chances of all of them being "full" are slim since few people know this.
Providing you don't mess around with any more settings you will be OK. Try this first, if it doesn't work, you still know how to change channels.....but I think it will.
All the best Red.

My NEXTBOOK tablet won't connect to the wi-fi. Keeps saying "obtaining IP address"

Something could be getting in the way of the connection or your ip number may not be working. see if it will allow you to enter the ip address which should be located on your wifi box.

Exceed not working on office network

Well, first, what is your internet connection bandwidth?
Most of the vpns drop the connections when the speed is not good enough, and that means your application won't work fine.
Also, when you use WiFi you can transmit upto 54megabits per second only (the wired network speed is 100MBPS), unless you have wifi N.
Anyway, first I would check the internet speed/bandwidth, test with a faster one, and if everything goes fine, then you know what the problem was :D.

Need to extract bluetooth module.

The bluetooth module is normally intergrated with the WIFI. If you open the memory compartment underneath you will see a seperate card which will have 2 wires connected to it black and white..

thats the WIFI chip with the integrated BT.. you'll have to replace that.

Is your WIFI working btw?

No user manual with new little MSI netbook. Need to know how to enable wireless network. Is there a switch or key combination?

Try this:
FN+F11 turns wifi/bluetooth on/off

Look at the LEDs on the front, namely the left most two.

No Blue + No Green = All wireless modes off
No Blue + Green = Bluetooth Off, WiFi On
Blue + No Green = Bluetooth On, Wifi Off
Blue + Green = Both Bluetooth and WiFi on

Press Fn+F11 to switch between each mode in turn in the order above.

Configure your wifi access with whatever tool you prefer. Some use the built-in windows wireless network , others use the realtek one. Use whatever works for you. (personally, I use the windows one).

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

I unlocked my iphone to work with t-mobile and now the wifi doesnt work, and it did when the phone wasnt activated, but now there is an E where the wifi should be

Your iPhone is probably just ignoring whatever WiFi networks you are nearby to right now since it now has access to EDGE (that's what the E means). Have you tried going to settings>wifi and searching for available wifi networks? If any show up then your wifi is working just fine.
