This means that there is a problem with your power supply. Follow these steps to get your Xbox 360 up and running again.
The first thing you will need to is check the color of the power supply light, located on the rectangular box that your power cord is connected to.
If green

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your Xbox 360
  2. Plug the power cord back into your Xbox 360.
If problems persist then there is a malfunction with your hardware and your Xbox 360 will need to be sent in to get repaired.
If red/orange/not lit
  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your Xbox 360
  2. Plug the power cord back into your Xbox 360.
If problems persist try
  • Plugging your power cord into a different outlet
  • Unplugging your power cord from wall socket, let sit for 10 min, and plugging power supply back in.
  • Use a different power cord

It means your xbox is overheating, you can send it back as they extended the warranty on it for this common fault unless you have modified it, in which case look up ring of death on youtube.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Try restarting the console.
  2. If restarting the console does not resolve the behavior, follow these steps:
    • Turn the console off.
    • Unplug all the power and AV cables from the console.
    • Unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
    • Firmly reconnect all the cables.
    • Turn on the console.
  3. If these steps do not resolve the behavior, turn the console off, remove the hard drive, and then turn on the console. If the 3x Red LED error light is no longer displayed, turn the console off, re-attach the hard drive, and then turn on the console.
  4. Also examine the lights on the power supply. When you turn on the console, the power supply light should illuminate green even if the three lights on the RoL flash red

I CAN FIX IT! There are links that show you how to repair this issue yourself (but they are not very clear and every thing is very fragile inside the XBOX 360) or you can contact me via reply on here and we can discuss the issue further as I recently repaired my XBOX 360 with the same issues and it works better than when was brand new. It is a heat sync problem that has to be repaired by someone with indepth electronics knowledge. If the light is Red that means the power supply needs to be replaced
