Reset the router to reset the username and password.

http://tech.yahoo.com/blog/null/11006

After this you should be able to use the factory login to add the security.

Wanadoo router (Livebox) is "open"

Welcome to FixYa.

If you are in France, then chances are, your internet service provider is not ORANGE Broadband? (http://shop.orange.co.uk/broadband/)

Wanadoo router (livebox) has locked its router for their broadband service only or at least an affiliated one.

Try to use the CD that came with it to setup the connection and you will find out while entering your username and password, you will receive and error that says what you entered is not a domain used by Wanadoo.

Livebox will not try to authenticate over PPPoA unless the user has entered a username within a Wanadoo domain.

That is why there is no way to login to it's GUI (http://192.186...).

You can try http://192.168.1.200 or http://192.168.1.1 (this one should be the correct one)

There is no contact information for France since the internet service provider of Wanadoo operates only in the UK. (http://shop.orange.co.uk/broadband/)

I hope this information will save you time in searching for answers that do not matter.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Have a great day.

How do i put a password so nobody in my building can get on my ;linsky

open a browser window and then type http://192.168.1.0 or http://192.168.1.1 and enter your router settings. change settings including password. unless you've set it up differently and actually have a username and password, leave the username space blank and use "admin" as the password. that's often the default password on a linksys. linksys has a great support page. they have the drivers, manuals, the works. the manual will also have the default password, plus how to do the default reset. here's the link http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/linksys/

I want to create a secure network password for my wireless router

The steps I'm about to teach you is to create a WPA Personal Network Key to prevent random users from accessing and altering your network.

Windows XP:

Go to Start > Run. Type in cmd and press enter. A black box will appear with some text in it. Type in ipconfig and press enter. Some more text will appear. Look for the words Default Gateway. Next to them will be an IP Address. Type this IP address into your browser.

A diolouge box will appear, asking you for a username or password. If you have not configured this already, leave the username field blank and type in the password field admin. THe Linksys router configuration page will display.

Click the tab taht says Wireless. Click the subtab that says Wireless Security. In the drop down box that says security mode, select WPA Personal. Make sure where it says WPA Algorithms, TKIP is selected. In the WPA Shared Key box, type in a password that you are sure you will remember, or write it down. When finished, selected the button that says Save Settings.

Your network is now secure with the key you have made. The default SSID (or network username) is called linksys.

Securing my linksys wireless g router

Hello, In browser address window, enter 192.168.1.1. This will open your router settings. It will ask for a Username and password. I believe Username is "admin". You may not have to enter a password. If you do enter "admin" for password also. Once in to settings you'll see a link for "wireless". Click it and from there you can change Username, password,SSID(Router Nmae) and enable WEP security. There will be directions and explanation for most all questions. If there is more I can answer, please let me know. Hope this helps.
