u have to install window 7 again in ur pc , If u install window 7 than bit locker again give u option to unlock the disk using password but if u forget ur password of bit locker then it give u another option to open it, and this opition is to fill the recovery key into bit locker if u saved it and it is different to all driver ,if u also do'nt have this than there i s no method to open the hard drive without formatting it
Copy and paste the following link into your internet browser: http://www.techtalkz.com/windows-7/515981-enable-disable-bitlocker-drive-encryption-windows-7-a.html This is for Windows 7 OS.
Your keyboard has shorted out with the water damage. It can be easily replaced by buying one on eBay for probably less than $20 and using the Service Guide online at Dell Support I am posting right below.
The charging port is soldered onto a charging plate that also includes usb ports. It is a separate plate that can be purchased and it simply screws into place, no soldering. Below is the links to the charging plate on Ebay and the service manual that shows the disassembly of the laptop.
Peter, your system clock can be reset on your Windows screen, either in the lower right if you have the time function displayed (double-click to time and make any adjustments) or by going to Control Panel/Date and Time icon to do the same thing.
Dell Tec told me to choose "To set up Windows XP now" (with Operating System CD in drive) If it doesn't work try Dell Tech Chat. I kept getting "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe. Please re-install a copy of the above file." (I tried to restore to original factory, followed directions, f12 boot from CD but when I get to "Agree to Licensing Agreement" none of the keys work except ESC.) I was able to get on the Dell Tech Chat at http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/chat/hardware_chat?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs (you need your Service Tag) tried same steps but keys would not work so they sent me a new hard drive that I can install myself. Evidently there is no way to fix this. Tech says wireless will work with new hard drive. Is your warranty active? I always get SquareTrade.com (cheaper than most) warranty. They fix or give you what you paid. Everything I buy breaks & sooner than you would think.
My father had a similar problem with the HP he has. Basically, what has happened is the actual script that controls where the boot sector is located is corrupt.
Boot with your first recovery disk and try to fix the issue. If this doesn't work, then you'll have to reinstall.
The restoration is more than likely corrupt. The best solution is to find another restore point, or abort restoration. If your computer fails with an error, you'd either:
a. Have brought a backup, 'cause you're reformatting.
b. Have a Linux LiveCD or dual-boot OS ready if you REALLY need some files from that computer. Go ask about those on a different question if you need to use them and are confused.
