Isn't this just a simple hookup? What am I not doing?

You either need to change the input source. Currently the source is TV, depending on how you connected the DVD player to the TV, it should be composite (A/V), component video or HDMI. (S-video is also a possibility. Very few DVD players are connected on the RF (coax) input which might be channel 3 or 4 without having a converter between the DVD player and the TV.)

Look on your TV remote for a button marked Source or Input. You may also find this button on the TV. (On some TVs, this may also be accessed through the menus.)

How did you connect the TV and the DVD player? If your audio and video were connected via three RCA plugs (yellow, red, white) on each end, then use the composite video input. If you used cables with 3 RCA plugs for video (yellow, green, blue) and 2 for audio (red/white), then switch to the component input. If you used HDMI which carries audio and video in one cable (with rectangular ends), then use the HDMI input.

Some older TVs only have the Source/Input button on their original remote. Not all universal replacement remotes have this button, you may need a different remote. Those that do may require you to try additional codes for your TV manufacturer to enable the button. (The on./off buttons often will work with more of the codes for a brand.) The ones that can be programmed via a USB connection to a computer are most likely to support the function. Please add a comment with the type of TV for additional help with this.

I hope this helps.

I want to know how to swich the tv to wach dvd player? the remote works with the tv but how can i swich to wach a movie....i dont want to set up the remote to the dvd...

Sounds like you need to change the input channel of your TV with your TV remote. Look for an Input or Video Source button. Once you've found it, insert a DVD then cycle through the inputs with that button until you see something on the screen. As always this could be undermined by incorrect connections to and from and the DVD player. Double check these as always!

How to install a video machine if I don't have the tv remote?

I'm assuming by "video machine" you mean some kind of DVD player or Blu-ray player or something of the like. I will explain how to install a DVD player. There are two major cables: one sends the video to the TV and the other sends power to the DVD player. The power cord plugs into the wall with the other end attached to the DVD player. The video cable plugs into the TV. If you have an HD television, the video cable will have a male HDMI piece that plugs into the TV while the other end of the cable plugs into the DVD player. If you don't have an HDTV, then you will use an RCA cable which has three prongs: Yellow, White, and Red. These three colored male prongs plugs into the corresponding color coded holes in the TV. The other end goes into the DVD player. When you have everything plugged in correctly and the DVD player is on, all you have to do now is change the TV input. You will need the TV remote that came with your TV, or a universal remote that has been configured to work with your TV. Find a button on your remote that reads "Source" or "Input". This will cycle through the sources and inputs of your TV including AUX, VIDEO1, VIDEO2, etc. Keep going until you are on the correct input to see the DVD player menu. Good luck!

Dvd player and analog tv

You're not trying to use the "Tuner" in the ILO are you? Bypass it and use the A/V cables from the "out" of the converter box. I think mine also has the coax type cable from the "to tv" to the ILO, then from the "to tv" on the ILO to the television. Either way should work. Mine works great, its a zenith and I have successfully recorded to discs in my ILO. Just change the Source back to the DVD source to watch a dvd or select the corresponding A/V connections that are hooked to your convertor box to watch/record television.

How Do I Get a DVD to Work with This TV?

Make sure to switch the TV's tuner mode to Video or Aux mode.
You can change the mode using the original TV remote or directly from the TV's control panel.

Again, tuner mode picks up all live broadcast airwaves and Video or Auxillary mode displays what is inputed into the TV via second device..

Good Luck!

Input problem

If you have the original remote, hit video, source, or input button, if it dont have them, then try to change the tv to channel 00 (zero or zerozero), if not then the channels might have to scroll to it, from channel 02 down to make it loop, if it goes to the next highest channel, then you need a remote. It may be set in the menu options to have the video source not saved to your list of saved channels. when you scan the channels, the tv might not look for the A/V source (audio / video), maybe just the RF source. The 3 DVD RCA wires are 1 video and 2 stereo, one stereo for left and one stereo for right. The TV has only 2 , 1 for video and 1 for mono 1 channel sound. This wouldnt have anything to do with why you cant use the DVD player. but try that with the original remote (or a universal remote that is set to your tv set that has either video, input, source or something similar. It is what tells the tv to change from the cable source (RF) and the AV source (the Red White and Yellow plugs, in your TV's case, 2 plugs, one yellow and the other either red or white or something). Dont really know how to explain it much more but hope it helps.

Cant change channels

Your in the video mode so you have to change the input. On the original remote, its the button left of the power button. A universal may not work for this. If you need the original remote, Its available at http://www.remotes.com Good Luck
