I had the same problem.
Always begin with chipset.
I needed to install the audio driver + architecture driver.

Try this:

First install all the chipset driver: from here

Then install the audio driver: from here

There's no architecture driver for your audio.

Inspiron 1010 sound not working

When I go to Dell Support, and try to pull up Inspiron 1010, I get Inspiron Mini 10,

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-mini10

Scroll down, click on the Blue down arrow to the left of -
Audio (1)
Now left-click on the blue -> Realtek-Driver

To the right of Version: click on the blue -
Download File

On the next page make sure there is a Green dot, in the small circle to the left of - Single-file download.
If not left-click in the empty circle to the left of - Single-file download
Click on Continue in the blue oval.

A small window will come up on the right -
Opening R215165.EXE
Click on Save File

A small window will come up on the left. Allow the file to fully download, then DOUBLE-click on it. Follow the easy instructions.

When you are finished close all windows, go back to your desktop screen, and restart your computer, IF you are not asked to do so.

Don't forget about the Volume icon in the system tray. Audio needs to be Enabled, and Volume needs to be up to where you desire.

My Dell inspiron mini 10 is just over 1 year old not used very much at all, last week for no reason there is no display on the screen, I tried to reboot on battery power and ac no luck. Thanks Frank.

There are 3 mini 10 models sold by Dell. The Inspiron 1010 (Mini 10), Insprion 1012 (Mini 10) and the Insprion 1018 (Mini 10v). Depending on which model you have, you can try to connect an external monitor and see if you get a display. The 1012 and the 1018 have a 15 pin VGA plug on the left side of the laptop and the 1010 has an HDMI jack for video. If you get a display then your LCD display is bad and needs to be replaced.
