Try vacuuming and cleaning the coils on the bottom of the fridge. The water is supposed to evaporate by the heat/air movement and if that is being slowed by dust and junk clogging the coils...it won't evaporate the water.

The drip pan collects water when the freezer goes into a defrost cycle. Most times there is very little water and the water evaporates quickly. When there is a problem with the freezer or the water does not evaporate between defrost cycles, the drip pan fills with water. If the front bottom of your refrigerator has a grille, you access the drip pan from the front. If there is no grille, access the drip pan from the rear.
Instructions Rear Access
1 Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall so that you can access the rear of the refrigerator.
2 Look under the refrigerator with a flashlight and locate the drip pan. Often when people install refrigerators they neglect to pull the packing from around the drip pan. The drip pan may have tape or styrofoam around it.
3 Remove any packing material away from the drip pan and pull the drip pan out from under the refrigerator.
Front Access
4 Pull the grille at the bottom of the refrigerator below the refrigerator door with your fingers. The grille secures to the refrigerator with plastic clips.
5 Remove any debris from the access area and throw the debris in the trash. The coils and fan under the refrigerator attract dust and dirt. Clean out the area with a lint brush if you have one.
6 Pull the drip pan out from under the refrigerator.
dear sir, i think where you find bad smell rust colour object in near of comressor its sign of comressor oil and there is leak after the leak that oil has been come out please contcet to your service technician for reweld that leakage and refill refrigarant in your freezer , i hope after that problem will be solve . and freezer will being work batter.
soap and water to the defrost pan is the only way if odor is inside place crumpled newpapers in the section for 1 day then unused coffee 2 cups this will absorb odor inside of the unit
Hi, This pan can not be removed without taking the whole frame apart. Best thing is to try and get a long brush (hardware stores sell them) and try and clean it that way. Using very hot water might help loosen the grime in the pan. I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
I just had the same problem with my kenmore side by side. I have been noticing a nasty smell for the last couple weeks when the fan comes on. My husband just took the whole back of the refrigerator apart and put a flashlight in there. We could see the drip-pan and it was filled with stinky black mold!! It was very hard to remove, but he managed to get it out by taking the lower front (where the filter goes) apart and then he was able to slide out the drip pan and clean it out! Problem solved.....but Kenmore should really make the drip pan more accessable!
Sorry I don't know this model, so I can only give generic advice on this one.
Most fridges have the cooling plate at the back. Try to keep food away from it, otherwise ice will form on it.
At the bottom of this area there will be a gully and drain hole through to the back. Any drips that form at the back, will drip into this gully, go through the hole, down a pipe and onto an evaperator tray sitting on top of the compressor.
What usually happens is that dust or labels get stuck to the cooling plate at the back, which drips down, blocking the pipe, which then stagnates into a grey stinky soup.....Lovely!
What you need to do is defrost the fridge, spray clean the inside with a multi-surface cleaner, and flush this tube with the cleaner water. A turkey baster syringe may be the easiest way to do this. As the evaperator tray only holds about 1/2 a cupful - don't overdo it.
While you are there, clean the door seals.& dry the interior.

"Well, it looks like the pan is a seperate plastic pan and not the compressor mounting pan like some of the newer ones are.
It appears that you have to remove the condensor fan motor and mounting bracket then maybe the pan will left up and over the compressor, or maybe there is enough room to lift the pan up and out the front over the condensor coils"
