Turn up "MIC GAIN" also check and see if it keys up full scale 4 watts on output meter. If that doesn't do it change MICS. Go for a power mic by cobra that runs off say a double AA battery. It may be conditions also or your out of range of persons. check Antenna,Swr reads (should be 1.1 to 1.5)on a Radio Shack meter. Try it all.

What would be wrong if I can talk out on a walkie talkie but the other person trys to talk and i cant hear them

You will need to tell us more. What model radios are you using? Can you hear others talking but not your friend with the other radio? If you can hear other talking, the problem my be a defective transmit circuit on the friends radio. If you can not hear any one, you may a a defective receiver or broken antenna. Can the other person hear you?

I can talk but cant hear

Check your Code setting. Both the frequency and the code must be identical for the units to communicate. Shut off any special features and keep the radios at a simple setting until you get communications back.

Can a Motorola talk about 250 talk to a cobra CXT 195. They can hear me from the Motorola I just cant hear them

Your code (PL code, interference eliminator, quiet call) is not programmed the same on both radios. The Cobra appears to be set to open squelch (no code). Set your Motorola code setting to zero (off). This should solve the problem.

I can talk through one device and hear fine on the other, but cant hear anything when i talk into the other device

verify, either the operating frequency is not pair/same with the other radio, check the default frequency, tx/rx on the simplex mode should be the same frequency

Cb puts out good sound but when someone try to talk to me it all you hear is static

same thing sometimes happens to me. Usually it is because the person who is talking to you might have a weaker antenna. Sometimes people put a very strong transmitter with them and talk to people but you cant talk back.
So really they can't hear you good either. Just because you are too far away.

Radio is receiving but is not sending out any messages

And you know its not sending out messages because no one is answering you, right. Well ,maybe no one in your area is on the same channel as you are or maybe some one listening but they feel some one else will answer you. hook an external speaker to the PA side of the radio output and see if your voice comes through. Then if you bridge the speaker out put of the cb/pa you chould be able to get talkback. If you can hear yourself talk then your radio is getting out but the question then is how far? Have you checked your SWR reading . You should be below a 2:1 to get out with a decent signal but a 1:1 to 1:5 is best. Actually another radio tuned to the same channel as you , set up a few feet away, should pick up your transmit so you don't have to hook up talkback. If you can hear yourself talk then your radio is getting out its just no wants to talk at the moment.

Cant talk through mic

Sounds like a bad or miswired mic. Try a new mic ( use the proper cobra mic ). If the problem still continues, check all the swiches on the front of the radio and make sure you don't have any cold solder joints ( broken lead to board connections ). Good Luck
