Is it that the keyboard is locked so no keys work, or is the touchpad locked so that the mouse pointer does not move?
I've seen more and more people locking the mouse pointer. If that's the case there might be a button to push that is at the top of the touchpad in the middle that toggles it on and off. Also on some brands, you will have to hit either the FN or ALT key and hold it down while you hit the F1 thru F12 key that controls the touchpad. Usually the correct key to press will have the icon of a finger in a square box representing the touch pad.

Easiest way is to get yourself a USB bluetooth dongle......a while ago i picked up 1 on Ebay for only 99c from China including postage and it works perfect and is so small you can barely see it.....cheers and please vote
I suggest do wired connection then go to this link it will guide you on how you can troubleshoot the problem with the wireless connection you have. Hope it helps.
If you were to click on start then All programmes. Select Accessories and then character map. Select a font and then the code you require. I find since WinXP Alt0189 no longer works properly and use the character map instead. Hope that helps.
Go into the device manager and see if the driver is enabled. control panel/ system/ hardware tab/device manager/pointing devices, and see if the driver is loaded. If it is try update driver.
