MY telly wont

The set decided for some reason known only to itself, to shut down.  The screen is dead, with just a red standby light on it, the remote has absolutely no effect on the set which is making a ticking sound.  I've tried unplugging the set from the mains but that has no effect whatsoever.  What can I do to get this blasted machine working again?

Hello Haplorhine:

It sounds like there is a problem with you power supply or the small signal board, it should be taken to a repair center.

Why won't the set power up?

The red LED at the bottom of the TV is powered by the 5 volt standby circuit, if you don't have the light you don't have a 5 volt standby and without that the set is totally dead, no power going anywhere. Chances are a new power board will fix your set.

Hitachi l42vco4u

In other-words, the standby/power slight blinks. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. For more information, check the link http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/. If the blinks continues, and non-stop, the fault should be with its main system control IC, and with the memory IC.

My Hitachi L42VC04UB replaced a failed power board .The television comes on and after a short time it shuts down and the standby light in the front of the television flashes blue and red .This happe

Well either the TV's main (or other) board overloads the power board and it shuts itself off or the power board itself shuts itself off for whatever reason or the main board shuts off for whatever reason.

With the setup you have I'd say it's probably going to be difficult to figure out which one it is.

You will want to have yet another board - either main or power - to eliminate one of the two most likely possibilities.

What did you do with the original power board?

If you keep it you can probably send it to us for repair....or if it's cheap enough just buy another one.

i don't think there's an easier and affordable way to narrow it down than using a third board.

Tv remote wont work the lights turns on but still wont work

There are two ends to IR control; the remote itself and a receiver inside the set that is active any time the set has AC available. Testing the receiver end requires a known-working remote control but you can check to see if the remote is still sending IR signals by taking any digital camera you have on hand, turning it on as if you wanted to take a snap of something, watch the display while you aim the working end of the remote toward the camera's lens and holding down any button on the remote. If the remote is sending IR signals, you will see these as white spots, often blinking rapidly, on your camera's LCD screen.
If the remote is outputting IR, the receiver in the TV is likely dead and will require replacement.

Ok, you need to reset the PS3 back to standard video settings by doing the following :

Step 1. Turn the PS3 off into standby mode (red light on)

Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later. Release the power button when you hear this second beep.

Step 3. Wait for the display to initialize.

Hope this helps

My telly standby light flickers but the telly don't come on

The light flickers because the power source has detected a failure and has shut itself down. Nothing more you can do, the tv must be repaired by a pro.

Tchnika tv switched itself off and now will not

This is a classic switchmode power supply, shutting down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both. This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, This set should be removed from the Power, and in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an GE, Approved Service Center, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their local, "Head Office" Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement. The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand, also sometimes, there has been a service bulletin maybe to do with your exact problem, may have been issued and the repair may be subsided or even free. If you'r lucky.
