Your carburetor is probably clogged, this is very common. Once this happens you might try spraying some carb cleaner into the carb and let it soak for a few hours but most of the time you have to remove the carb and disassemble it to unplug any small orifices that are clogged with a small wire. You can pull out a small wire from a wire brush and that usually is stiff enough and small enough to do the job and then spray carb cleaner into it and let it soak for hours. You might also replace the carburetor gaskets and fuel filter and diaphram.

Starts right up and runs...dies when chocke is opened past half way

the carburetor needs to be cleaned or a new needle and seat installed. engines will start but may only run on choke, are starving for fuel. this means that the carburetor has a problem. usually a good cleaning and maybe a needle and seat will cure this problem.

Kohler engine troubleshooting

If you can keep it running with the choke pulled out or partially pulled out I would check to see if there is a fuel filter on the machine and most likely you have a carb problem and it is gummed up and needs to be rebuilt.

This sounds like a fuel starvation issue.
Is the engine running smoothly? Have you checked the injectors? What warning lights are on the dashboard?
Running the engine at idle, put some injector cleaner through the system. The only other reason could be a faulty engine sensor of some kind.

I had to drive through water that was upto the middle of the rim. drove fine for almost 300 miles afterward then all of a sudden it will start and no power on the road. it sounds like chocked when pushing...

you would have first check on your car sparks plugs and the leads wire that could have made your car not to have power, know that when the leads wire get wet then its looses sparks needed by plugs to give out power to the engine. loosing oil comes from the overheating from the engine which can end up burn the cylinder head gasket. so try to change the spark plugs together with its leads and put new engine oil and drive test it.

A few possibilities to check:

1. The chock is stuck on. Pull the air cleaner while running and see if the chock is closing off part of the throttle.

2. Check the OHV valve settings, could be the tolerance is too tight.

That is a sign of carb problems! You will need to remove it and disasembel it and clean every nook and cranny. Use carb cleaner and a air compresser.

Chainsaw starts and runs fine for a few minutes

Try fresh fuel making sure oil and gas mixture is correct. Carb might need cleaning and adjustment.
