We have a Sylvania Model Srdv495 we bought from Sears a few years ago we haven't made many recordings since we got it. My wife was trying to make a recording on the DVD the other day and couldn't get the disk to format so that we could record anything. The disks we were using are Memorex DVD-RW 4x, 4.7GB. If you have any solutions we would appreciate it. Thank you

You should ring Sanyo helpdesk direct for fault like this as you shouldnt be having problem of this nature also would be good idea to go back to where you bought it to see if they have heard of problem,.

I have the same unit, a SRDv495 and have also been having
a bad time getting dvd's that will work in my machine. I also
bought mine from Sears. I have found one that works every
time and that is a MAXWELL DVD-RW. The trick I think is
the speed of the DVD, so you need to use the ones that have

Does the player portion work OK? BTW, try another manufacturer's blank DVD. Most folks I know have had problems with Memorex media.
