Hitachi ultravision director's series 55" flat-panel plasma hdtv. screen is blank, no picture - sound ok.

****, sorry I don't have any solutions but I have the same TV, Hitachi 55HDX99 55 in. HDTV Plasma No Picture but the sound is ok. For about 6 months the picture would go out, I would unplug it for 10 mins and it would work for a week, but now the unpluging trick does not work any more. I have left the TV unplugged for 2 days and still no picture. lets stay in touch if one of us get any luck. my e-mail is [email protected]

I don't know how to fix your issue but I have the same tv with a cracked glass front. I would be interested in buying your tv for parts to replace my glass front if you are unable to fix yours. Please let me know. Thanks, Dan

Any number of issues including power supply to main board are possible------Have you removed power from the set and or a box if used for a while?

Hitachi 55" plasma Director's Series

Replacing the front glass entails completely disassembling the entire TV. Your best bet is to look for a broken TV with a good front glass.

The screen goes off after five minutes of use. The sound still works but no picture. The TV must have power removed for about 15 minutes, then you get another five minutes of picture.

check the power supply and exactly capacitor you will find some of there puffed change it one by one

yeah... sounds like a user error... try going into the menu and remove the text.. it's simple ...

probably needs new scan drive board along with upper and lower buffer boards. it wont be cheap and its best to have a tv shop do it.
