I have a samsung dlp. In the past 3 months I have replaced a ballast, lamp and a color wheel. After lamp replacement tv worked great for three weeks. Now TV comes on great but turns off after about two minutes. I then cant turn tv back on by using side panel or tv remote. Have to unplug to get it turned back on.
Re: I have a samsung dlp. In the past 3 months I have...
It could be that a cooling fan is not operating correctly, allowing the unit to over heat, or the power supply board could be failing. I would remove lower rear cover and see if fan(s) are turning.

ballast failures are not that common in general. i would suspect the color wheel before the ballast. do you hear a whirring noise when the tv is trying to turn on. sometimes the color wheel will not spin correctly and the tv will not start as a result.
Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.
ballast or smps board (power supply board) or the main board. Had same problem, replaced lamp, ballast and power supply, worked for 2 weeks now front lights flashing again. ordered main board per samsung tech. support.
the lamp which you rteplaced is not seated properly.and also it can be the problem of colour wheel or the ballast.to check out all three just check out this links 1 by 1

wheel with diagram and procedure http://www.jangro.com/a/2006/07/24/samsung-dlp-replace-color-wheel/
Mine did that when the color wheel didn't spin up...just give it a whack where you installed the light & the wheel should spin up. I had to replace my color wheel as the bearing was shot & was buzzing all the time. The light won't come on if the wheel doesn't spin up first.
Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast.
While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the
issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the
lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast).
After replacment most people stop having issues.
