I refilled the ink cartridges on my canon mp250 printer. Now the ink lights will not quit flashing and I am unable to print anything. I tried resetting according to instructions provided by canon and it did nothing.

Hi,

How much time you have done refilling a same cartridge? You shouldn't refill a same cartridge more than three times. Make sure that the cartridges are OK. May be the head of the cartridges are not in good condition. You may need to replace cartridge. Check that you have installed the cartridges properly or reinstall it. Align the cartridges. If it doesn't solve your problem then you have to replace the cartridges. Using original cartridge always is recommended.

Unrecognized ink cartridge

This model Canon/Epson printer may only let you use genuine Canon printer cartridges. If you try to refill these ink cartridges it will not work because the Canon cartridges have an embedded chip in the cartridge that detects the empty cartridge even though it has been refilled. This means you need to purchase and install genuine printer cartridges.

How can I override the ink level on my MP250 printer after I refill the cartridge?

Sadly there is no way to reset the ink level once a cartridge has been refilled. However your printer will continue to let you print until it believes the ink cartridge is physically empty. Once it reaches this point printing will stop and you will receive an error message asking for a prompt from you. To bypass this message simple hold down the resume button for 5 seconds and printing will continue.

More information on the resume button and continuing to print can be found here: http://www.refreshcartridges.co.uk/igloo/the-infamous-canon-resumestopreset-button/

Did you use Canon cartridges or generic ones? Sometimes if you do not use brand specific cartridges the printer will realize this and not print correctly. Also after you changed the cartridges did you calibrate the printer? If not, try calibrating 3 times and see if this corrects the problem. If not, it could be the cartridges...

With the power button still down, press the Stop/Reset button twice.

Release the On/Off button.

The printer is now in factory mode (wait until idle is displayed)

Press the right arrow button (next to the OK button) repeatedly until Shipping Mode 3 is displayed.

Press the OK Button

Wait until "Without Cleaning" is displayed and then presss the Stop/Reset button once.

A test page should print.

Open the cover. (the cartridges should position themselves at the far left - the cartridge removal location)

Disconnect the power cable.

Remove both cartridges.

Close the cover.

Reconnect the power cable.

Press the On/Off button.

Wait until a Replace Cartridges message is displayed. Now insert the cartridges.

Flashing ink refill light

Sometimes refilling them over and over doesn't work well. Once ok...but i suggest that you buy a new cartridge. I know that they are expensive but it will help. Also take some Rubbing alchohol and a q-tip...clean inside where the cartridge sits..that will help...this is for sure a bad ink cartridge
