Screen only stays on for 2 seconds at a time

Philips php-x19w
screen goes blank the blue light (monitor on/off switch) stays on, turn off & back on screen comes on for 2 secs then goes blank again.

Tried monitior on 2nd pc & exactly the same, checked all cables looks ok.

Before this happened i did disconnect the monitor because I took the pc home for the weekend to use with another monitor, not sure if this is just a coincidence?

Yes I have the same problem!...except my screen stays on for 10 seconds then goes blank, I switch off then on again and same problem..only lasts 10 seconds!..I have also tried this monitor on another system and same thing. My Philips monitor is 20 months old. I did email Philips and they tell me they have no support for this model as it is Dixons OEM!..seems it is not actually Philips after all!..Although I bought mine from PC world but after emailing them I was given a number to ring at £1.50 per min!..I dont think so! I just hope someone has a solution to this problem...I am thinking about retuning this monitor to PC World and making a point that with a Philips name printed on the front one would expect a product to last longer!...after all I have nothing to loose!...

I have exactly the same problem with a Xerox XM7-19wB. Apparently they are exactly the same monitor but with different brands. Mine is going back.

ViewSonic VA1930wm Screen stays on for about 2 seconds, and then goes off. 1) If no computer is connected you get a "no signal" message which stays for about 1 seconds and then goes off; blue...

Very typical of View Sonic. Sounds like a back backlight or inverter. I would go to www.viewsonic.com and open up a RMA. Most view sonic screens have a 3 year warranty. They will repair at no cost ..(if it is within that period) There is a date code on the back of the screen that will help you validate the above information.

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

Sounds like either there is a bad connection from the computer to the monitor, or the monitor has a faulty power regulator, causing the monitor to overheat prematurely, and shut off.

Monitor displays the PC screen but switches off within 10 second

Unfortunatley your monitor is going out. I just had that problem. My sceen would come on, but after about 10min. it would blink off and turn black. I would have to hit the off button on the monitor, then turn it back on. It would work fine for a few minutes then black out again. I got a new/used monitor where I no longer have that problem.

I did check to make sure my hybernate was not activated, it wasn't, I had it set to never turn off.

Good luck.

Bad capcitor in the psu would cause this to squel and even pop so have it looked at you be glad you did.

Php-x19w keeps switching off after a few minutes

I've just spent ages tracking this one down. In my case it is the protection circuit in the backlight invertor. The tubes are worn out (they are pink when they first come on) and need replacing :((.
If the picture disappears and the blue light in the ON switch stays on, you've probably got the same trouble.

Problem with monitor

Hi.
Are you able to see a slight image on it at dusk and maybe with the help of a flashlight. since your blue light stays on the video board, may be okay.
It sounds like you have bad capacitors on your powerboard or possibly a burned out transistor on the inverter.

Only way to really tell is to open it up.
If you unplug the screen to video board ribbon, you may notice a different effect in the screen lighting.
There is a chance one of your bulbs is creating a problem
Should the screen happen to light up all white, then your power board and inverter are okay and the problem may be in the video board.
If it looks pinkish or dark or flickers then the bulbs or a bulb may be the issue.
If it flashes on then goes off, it's in the power or inverter board.

Monitor only stays on for 3 seconds

There is probably a bad capacitor within the monitor that will not allow the picture to "hold" in the on configuration. This will need to be replaced. You can send it back to Phillips, or 17" monitors are pretty cheap these days. I would suggest a Samsung or BenQ. They both carry 3yr warranties.
