Hi, Your tv has problem with its back light inverter stage. All LCD TV have back light to illuminate the pixels. There are two types of back lighting CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) and LED. In your tv its ccfl. As it is ccfl it need a high voltage above 1000v. To provide such a high voltage there will be an inverter stage in all lcd tv with ccfl back lighting. Normally in LCD tvs there will be three boards such as Mother board , Back light inverter board, and power supply. In your tv the ccfl back light inverter stage is faulty. There will in inverter transformers in the inverter board. As it is high voltage transformer there is possibility of its winding get shorted. If so it will drain a high current from the power supply and the protection circuit will shut down the voltage to the inverter board. check the inverter board first. Also there is possibility of bad electrolytic capacitors in the inverter board will lead to this type of problem. First of all check the supply voltage from the power supply to the inverter board. Change the electrolytic capacitors in the inverter board and in the power supply stage. If the problem is not rectified then you have to replace the inverter board. ok

EEGreen lines on screen still hear and see picture

Green lines on screen means either the tube is worn out ( green lines stay in same place channel after channel) or you may have a connector problem where the signal comes into your set, try a differnt input type.

Monitor goes black - green light stays on

My screen is black, why do I not have a picture?
Answer Antenna is not hooked up to television.
  • Make sure that the antenna cable is correctly connected to the television. If it doesn't work there appears to be no signal.
Problem is caused by television broadcast
  1. Push 'INFO' button.
  2. If the screen shows channel number (1, 2, 3, etc) try another channel. Not all channels broadcast at all times.
  3. You may have a signal problem. Contact cable provider or local broadcaster regarding the specific channel.
Television is in EXT or SIDE mode, and there is no external source provided, so screen mute (black screen) is activated.
  1. Push NEXT SOURCE button on the remote.
  2. On the screen appears all sorces.
  3. Press the UP button to switch to the TV mode.
If you are using an accessory device (DVD, DVR, or VCR), be sure the device is on and running.
Blank screen when connecting to the accessory (DVD, STB, PC) device via HDMI to HDMI.

Answer
  • Make sure the cable is well connected .
  • To check which connection is selected, Press the i+ button on the remote control.
  1. When you see Blue mute / blank screen and the i+ display does not indicate any video resolution indication then there is no valid signal detected.
    • Make sure the HDMI output of the accessory is valid by changing the video output resolution to a resolution which the TV can handle.
  2. When you see a blank screen and the i+ display shows a video resolution indication then the connection is correct.
    • The blank screen is caused by the accessory device and not by the TV.
    • To detect and remedy the problem caused by the accessory device, check the instruction manual of this device.
  3. If the problem remains : reselect the HDMI external source input by changing to the other HDMI input and back to the connected HDMI :
    1. Press AV on the remote
    2. Press up and then ok
    3. Press AV again
    4. Press down and ok
    5. The compatibility check process between TV and accessory device will start over again.
  4. Reset (switch off and back on) the TV and also reset the accessory device.

How do you get the picture in picture to work? What two sources can you use, a cable box and what?

The Picture in Picture (PIP) on VIZIO televisions works on multiple input sources. This means you have to have signal or a device connected to more than one input on the television and have both inputs selected to display the information going to them. Here is an example. Let's say you have an HD cable box connected to your television and you would like to have more than one channel displayed on the screen in order to keep an eye on both football games at the same time. With one device connected that's not going to work out the way our TV functions. What you want to do is get a coaxial splitter and two extra coaxial cables; these can be found anywhere home theater equipment is sold. Then follow these steps.

1. Turn off both your cable box and television.

2. Take the coaxial cable that comes OUT from the wall and connects to the IN of your cable box and disconnect it.

3. Connect that cable to the IN on your coaxial splitter.

4. Connect your two extra coaxial cables to the OUTs on your coaxial splitter. We will call them cable 1 and Cable 2, just because.

5. Connect cable 1 directly to the DTV/TV input on your television.

6. Connect Cable 2 directly to the IN on your cable box, this will be the same connection you removed it from in step #2. Your HD cable box should still be connected to your television with either an HDMI cable or Component cables (Identified by their Green, Red, Blue colors for video and Red and White cables for audio.)

7. Power on both the cable box and your television. Using the INPUT button on your VIZIO remote select the input connection where your cable box is located your cable box picture should come up on the Main screen.

8. Press the PIP button on your VIZIO remote to bring up the small box in the corner. Press the PIP input button until you select the TV input and you should be ready to go. You may need to perform a channel scan with your TV tuner to locate all available channels before you do this step. In order to understand better how to perform a channel scan please check under the F.A.Q.s in the discussion area of your particular model television.

In order to change channels in the small screen use the PIP CH - and + buttons located near the bottom of the remote. You can swap picture in the Main and Sub screens using the swap button and swap which screen will sound off its audio by using the AUDIO button. You might notice an X next to some of the selections in the INPUT and PIP INPUT screens when you have PIP activated. That means that input selection is unavailable and cannot be used. For example, if you have the input TV selected on your main screen then if you press the PIP INPUT button and bring up that input menu you will see X's next to the TV and AV selections. The X's mean that when you have TV on the main screen you won't be able to use TV or AV on the small screen. Instead you would need to use any of the input selections that do not have an X attached to them.

The screen is black and a little box that says no signal is moving around on the screen

Check your inputs. The no signal box means exactly that - there's no incoming signal for the TV to decode. So you've either disconnected a cable somewhere or turned off your input device.
Try changing the inputs on the TV (this will be a button saying input or A/V)
Try changing the channels
Check that your cables are correctly connected and that whatever you are trying to use (dvd player, PS3, etc) is turned on.
Check that your TV is tuned to the corresponding input it is plugged in to (if you plugged your DVD player into HDMI input 8, tune your TV to input 8)
Hope this helps.

I have a 42inch lcd polariod tv and the screen comes up blue no picture or sound

It could be the blanking circuit displaying a blue screen if no or a weak signal is connected to the TV. If you have a DVD or VCR try to see if you get picture and sound when ether of those devices are connected to the auxiliary input. If yes your signal input is weak, or you are getting no signal at all. If you go into the TV do you see text? If yes make sure you’re on the correct auxiliary input. If no text is visible the problem is internal and the LCD driver circuit needs to be repaired. If you see text and you are on the correct auxiliary input, but you get no picture and sound then the problem is internal and the front end tuner needs to be repaired. If you see video and hear the sound make sure your channel is correctly selected and set to a working channel. If you have a cable box remove the input to the box and connect it into the coaxial input on the TV and see if you have a picture and sound. If you do the cable box is defective. If you do not see any channels the cable may have lost its signal, and you should connect the cable to another device to check the signal quality. If you have a satellite service provider, and you use a known working device to check the signal and the device works then the TV needs to be serviced.

TV screen goes black but tv is on. But will stay on sometimes.

i have a 2000ish 32 inch trinitron Wega and i have had the EXACT same problems as you have, except mine was blacking out more and more frequently, but yes if u changes the channel or hit return onto the same channel you're watchin the picture wil come back, but not very long, about the longest it'll show a steady picture is 1/2 hr, but it's usualy going black within every 10-15 mins or so.

I took it to a Sony approved/recommened repair shop and aftet having a look i was told it would cost $200 cd including taxes to replace a 'vacuum tube' or something like that, i wish i could be more specific anout the part. I'm still considering whether or not to go through with the repair. I might just buy a working/used newer Tube Flascreen with HD for another couple hundred dollars. If there was a newer 2003+ 32 or 36" Sony that has a good track record I would love to hear suggestions. I don' trust flat panels, way too mny horror stories, and for every 1 i hear about there's probably 10-20 more.I'll give them another 5 years or so to get their acts together.

On the other had, if i do decide to get my 32" wega fixed i will post the results and the exact pt numbers of the pts used i the repair. Your problem is exactly the same as mine, to the letter. I'm a mechanic by trade, but i have a good feeling they're not going to give me correct pt # until i have payed them to fix it. Or else i'd order the part and install it myself.

Good Luck,
Aaron

D61w20 with sound and no picture

being able to see menu or osd as it called means that your crt are working.. you have high voltage.. and that you can hear the channels means at least part of the tv is functioning...just the video signal is not reaching the crt's somewhere the signal is blocked. try using a different input.. run it through a vcr. or dvd player and switching input through your remote.. let me know what happen.
