If you have replaced the toner cartridge but it is still displaying "low toner: Try the following:
Open the front cover of the machine and turn off the power
Hold down the "Go" button and power the machine back on, while holding down the button.
All the lights should light up, when they do release the button.
Press the "Go" button once and the lights will go out.
Press the "Go" button once or twice till the Toner/Drum/Paper lights are on again.
Now tap the "Go" button 6 time and all the lights should go out.
Close the cover and turn the machine off and then on again.
OR
Open the cover of the machine and remove the drum and toner.
Remove the toner from the drum unit and put just the drum unit into the machine.
The machine should indicate "toner empty".
Open cover and re install the drum and toner together - Close cover.
I take it you are refilling the toner cartridge...
Switch the printer off.
Press and hold the green button on your printer and turn the printer on. You will see that the lights flash for a moment and then turn off. After a few seconds, the attention light will turn on followed by ready light and the green light. Keep pressing the green button. In a few seconds, the attention light and the ready light will turn off.
Push the toner rotate button while you continue pressing the green button. As you briefly push the toner button, you will see the light flashing. Release both the toner button and the green button.
Repeatedly push the red button (cancel button). Now all the working lights on the printer will turn off.
Open and close the lid of HP printer once. The light will start blinking.
Press the green button. Your HP toner cartridge chip will be reset.
The drum has come to the end of its life. You should replace the drum assembly and reset the drum counter. Here is the procedure:
power off and open front door
hold down the continue button as you power on printer leaving front door open
when error light comes on release continue and close front door.
toner low, load paper, ready, and continue will all be lit.
press cancel slowly 4 times or until just toner low lights up. each time you press cancel, the light sequence should change
when just toner low is lit, press and hold continue button until lights cycle up and down in sequence.
release continue.. toner low will be lit again
turn printer off, wait 10 secs or so and then back on
press continue button to print off settings page and check under cartridge information, photoconductor value is 0K (zero)
This machine has a separate drum and toner cartridge. Replacing the toner does not reset the drum light. Double check that the light on is, in fact, the drum light, and if it is, replace the drum unit. This should resolve your problem.
In order to replace the drum unit, do this:
1) With the printer on and the drum light blinking, open the front cover.
2) Press and hold the Go button for about 4 seconds until all the LEDs light up. Once all LEDs light up, release the Go button.
3) Pull the print assembly out of the machine.
4) Push down the green lock lever to take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit.
5) Put the toner cartridge into the new drum unit.
6) Reinsert the print assembly into the machine.
7) Close the front cover and verify that the lights turn off.
It is theoretically possible that you could reset the counter without actually changing the drum by simply skipping steps 3-6 above, but I have never tried it before and Brother may be checking a chip on the drum unit to verify that it is, in fact, a new drum unit. If they are, you will have to actually replace the unit to make the light go off. I would strongly recommend against resetting the counter without actually changing the drum though, as your print quality will degrade and the machine may start to dump toner into the inside creating a rather large mess and a hefty repair bill.
If the toner LED still lit even after replacing the drum unit then you know that the Drum counter may not be reset. you need to reset the drum you can rReset the Drum counter as follows:
Open the front cover.
Locate the control panel button under the LED lights on the left side. Press the control panel button until all lights are lit, then release it. The Drum counter is now reset.hope this helps
Hi Please follow the bellow instruction… Open the front panel. Remove the toner and the drum. Remove the toner from the drum. On each side of the toner, there should be a little glass. Put the piece of duck tape on one of them. Put everything as it was. Turn on your printer. Now, the low toner light should be gone and the green light should be on. Now, you can empty your cartridge. If the Drum light is still lit after replacing the drum unit, the Drum counter may not be reset. Reset the Drum counter as follows: Open the front cover. Locate the control panel button under the LED lights on the left side. Pres the control panel button until all lights are lit, and then release it.
DRUM UNIT "spent" It can be reset if the printing quality is good To reset the drum follow the instructions below: Press the cover release button and then open the front cover of the printer.
Press and hold down Go button until all 4 LEDs are lit. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the Go button.
Close the front cover. Make sure that the Drum LED is now off. Caution: Reset the drum counter only when you replaced the drum unit with a new one.
