First of all try this:
Tap the iPhone with three fingers twice in succession. The home screen icons will be magnified to 200 percent. To adjust the zoom level, touch the screen with three fingers then move them up to increase the zoom, and down to lower it. The next time you tap the screen twice with three fingers, the iPhone will automatically return to your custom zoom level.
If it doesn't help, follow the steps below and repeat the above (step 5.)
Let me know if you need further help.
Good Luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.
thank you so much. My iphone 3G had a whiteout and after a reboot the large screen appeared and I couldn't get to the numbers to unlock the phone. Your solution solved it like magic. I appreciate all you tech savvy people. The 3 finger double tap and scrolling down reduced the screen to normal so I could unlock and change that zoom setting..

Hello Orlan,
You have zoom on: Double tap with THREE fingers to turn it off, then go
into Settings>General>Accessibility & turn it off for good.
Need to make my font larger. When I go to Minimum font size and set it to extra large it will not apply.,
