I have a top load Kenmore heavy duty, super capacity washer. Yesterday it just stopped after filling up with water. It has electricity to it, but will not go beyond filling up. I drained the water, and moved the knobs one more time. It filled up again, but will not go to the other cycles. Any suggestions?

hum either a bad timer sticking the point contacts close. have u tried this in all cycles? and possibly a motor with bad windings not enough power to run agitation? try running in mild or gentle and see what happens? I was tempted to say the cam dogs in agitator but they dont work then stop then work, when they go out they go out.
this is the site to find out how to fix your washer. you have a broken drive coupling. it probably wont agitate or spin, but will fill and drain. you need to remove 2 screws from the control panel, hinge it back and then remove the 2 brass colored clips that hold the cabinet to the base. once you do then pull the entire cabinet forwards to a 45 degree angle and pull it off the base. then pull the 2 clips off pump and then 2 more on the motor. that will allow you to get to the drive coupling. you will find it to be broken. replace it with part number 285753a for about 15-20 bucks.
You need a new SWITCH, LID 8318084 the bad lid switch is keeping your washer from sorking.. let me know if you want to repair it yourself..
let me know?
Krom, sounds like the machine is syphoning. Check the drain hose and make sure there is a air gap and that it is not too far down the standpipe or drain. To test it hold the drain hose right at the drain top and see if the problem stops...Catriver...post back.
