Is your wireless adapter enabled on the device you are trying to connect to ( is it a laptop)? Do you see your wireless SSID when you search for Available Wireless Networks? shut down the laptop and start up the laptop. reaquire the signal.
For the WRT310n, back to the User Guide (download from Linksys), perform a reset and start over following setup instructions (make sure the router is hardwired to the laptop). Set up a new home network on the laptop using Control Panel. Make sure the adapter settings are correct and good to go. Then see if you can connect to the router with your browser to set it up. After setup, you should be able to connect to the router wirelessly from the laptop, but you have to make sure the wireless transmitter inside the laptop is turned on first (see the laptop user manual).
First as a test, turn off the wireless security, and see if the laptop can connect.
If it can connect with security turned off, then it is likely that you are making some type of mistake with the password. (Such as caps lock being on, or having a keyboard error.)
use the wrt310n router as the router for the internet (where dsl modem is connected) then just connect the ethernet port (not wan port or internet port) of the SMC to the ethernet port of wrt310n
first check if you have internet with the modem if yes then you'll need to reconfigure the router. Contact router's manufacturer to assist you how to set it up.
You should call Linksys tech support now. The router needs to be configured manually. The tech that you hired maybe not familiar on how to configure the Linksys router.
Did the old internet come with the router?
It may have static settings in it. If so, you will need to configure it with the new static settings, or at least put it on DHCP.
download the manual from linksys to start with.
find out what the local ip-address is. normally it is http://192.168.1.1 Go to start/accessories/dosprompt and type: ipconfig
enter
read the number behind: standard gateway. that is the ip address.
follow instructions.
First reset the router by pressing the reset button for 15 seconds and after resetting it run the setup CD fo it to reconfigure the router, if you don't have the setup CD better contact Linksys tech support number and let a tech walk you through in manually configuring the router, this is the number for Linksys 800-3267114...........
I cannot access linksys wrt310n configeration screen.
